Re: Cars

Some great ideas there, especially that CP car as well. Maybe a 340 Mexico?... well maybe not.. I noted that a restored AH 100S which sold at auction on Amelia Island for 500k, was in the field in 2011. I'm not wedded to Healey's at all, they just seemed somewhat affordable.( the California car was 16k, plus restoration costs) I would guess the Alfa's would be more reliable anyway. I did go a few years ago to a big garage in NJ, where about a hundred 50's vintage basket case cars like XK 120's 140,s, Elva Couriers,AC Bristol's etc, were stored. Maybe I should go back. I'll check out those forums too, thanks.

Found you a MM car- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Alfa...Cars_Trucks&hash=item4ac038a0c1#ht_500wt_1182 :)

Re: Cars

Gorgeous car.
Looks like he will set the reserve around 290K, and hope for more. It's in Hemmings too. More than I can afford unfortunately, but really nice, love the color.

New Corvette debuted at Detroit Auto Show. What a gorgeous car.

Re: Cars

I've never been big on Corvettes, but the 2014 edition is incredible.

450 HP V8, cylinder deactivation, 26 MPG highway, $50K...

If I weren't saving for a house/bigger condo, I'd seriously give thought to buying one.

/useless in winter, will have to settle for a WRX, Wrangler Rubicon, or F150 Raptor

Re: Cars

While the new 'Vette design is indeed awesome....something about it makes it not 'Vette to me. I can't exactly place my finger on it, but I'm tending to think the lack of a long hood/engine/front design is what I'm (not) seeing.

It looks a lot like the Dodge Viper from a few years back, but with not quite as dramatic of a hood as the Viper had - or has, maybe.

I'll be damned. That's it. Thank you. Certain cars are known for certain things. And with this design, the 'Vette ditched their individuality. Again, still LOVE the look, but it's not pure Vette to me.

Re: Cars

Only thing I'm not sure on is the Camaro tail lights. Corvette tail lights have always been part of the car's identity. Gotta get those right.

Imagine what this is going to do for C5 prices. You'll be able to scoop one up for low $10K range.

Being a Wrangler owner, I know you will get the bold part of what I'm about to say. When I bought mine, I wanted a couple things, but most importantly, ROUND *ING HEADLIGHTS. PERIOD.

I was thinking the same thing. I kept looking at the *** end of it and thinking, "Man, that's a lot like a Camero." Not that it matters because it's still very Corvette.

Re: Cars

My last Corvette was 1977. Had it for 5 years. Loved it but had so many reliability problems and even more workmanship body integrity things that I had to part with it. The best part was a got more on a sale after 5 years than I paid for it.(extremely low mileage on it) But in spite of all I was like Sam Malone on Cheers-I loved the car. All black with a sandalwood interior. On dry roads handled like it was on rails. A light drizzle and I was all over the road. This new model is no doubt far superior in every way-but just from the pictures-just does not look the way I expect a Corvette to look and I cannot put my finger on why.

Re: Cars

All I can say about the design of the back of the new Corvette is, ewwwwwww. The tail lights are iconic, and they threw them away for... that?

Re: Cars

I like the look of the car.... I think I can understand where y'all are coming from about the looks of the vehicle though.... It's like the Vette finally made the jump to a "Future" design.... I can't quite put to words what I mean, but I think y'all are on a similar train of thought.... The new one has much rounder lines to it, where as throughout the 80s, 90s and 2000s the design was a much straighter car... The lines were more defined... The 2014 just looks sleeker... The C-post almost seems horizontal in the new design... Things like that take their inital design cues from the traditional style, but add a modern flair to it... I like it... ALOT :D
