Canadian National Team

Hockey Canada has reduced their centralized roster from 26-24. Jacelyne Laroque and Brianne Jenner have been released. Still three cuts to be made. It will be interesting to see if Larocque rejoins UMD and Jenner Cornell for the second half of this season or if they'll take the full year off.
The problem with joining for a half year is that it counts as a full year in terms of using up eligibility. Unless a student athlete is on course to graduate early and doesn't need a full 4th year, it seems prudent to wait.

Re: Canadian National Team

Looks as though all the travel and Ex games against the Alberta Midget boy's teams is really paying off for the Womens National team. I have to beleive that St Pierre, Labonte and Szabados have gained the most from this series of games as the Boy's were apparently told to tone down on the hitting...but nobody told them to take any mustard off their shots...

Re: Canadian National Team

Team Canada prevailed over Team USA tonight 6-2 at the Olympic Saddledome in Calgary. The first period was tight checking and frankly kind of boring as both teams looked a little tentative.

The second period saw things start to open up and Canada was eventually able to penetrate the US defensive core, it seemed at will.

Schaus played well in net (could have been 10-2) for the US squad despite being hung out to dry by her defence on a number of Canadian goals while at the other end Szabados had to make some spectacular saves to keep the Canadian's in it early.

Noteworthy was the fact that Caroline Ouelette actually got an "own goal" on the second US tally...check the box scores for the rest.

One thing for sure, these teams do not like each other.

Re: Canadian National Team

Any idea when the Canadian cuts are coming? I heard they might keep them all and not dress two for the Olympics to give them a taste of the "Olympic Experience."

Re: Canadian National Team

In other news....Obama is impressing me less and less each day. Praising a windfall of money for the insurance companies and a bill with no reflection from the original? I'll take Clinton back. Or better yet, move to Canada (then I can argue with the PM about his support of clubbing baby seals to death) Go HockeyCanada!!!

Yeah. I'm in that mood. I think I'll go back to bed eh?

I was never impressed with Obama and I would hardly call a 2-5% profit for insurance companies as a windfall. They are ranked 85th in profit margin. Clinton was by far a much better president, than the one in office now. Can't wait for 2010 and 2012 to come around.

Yeah, I am in one of those moods too.;) But none the less, GO USA!!!!
