Depends on where you go.Their conservatives are not like ours so that is a bit of a misnomer. Their conservatives are basically Chuck Schumer![]()

That’s really uncomfortable though and not stable.Lib + NDP of 172 is exactly enough for a majority.
That’s an unfair comparison. The NDP has its place in Canadian politics as the left party. They were screwed the minute Dump opened his mouth and their base had to vote for the Liberals to keep PP out of power.Man the NDP is so awful Jill Stein is probably mocking them...
Sounds like the conservative party is divided between the Ford faction and the Pierre faction.
NDP candidate doing his concession...specifically says they need Carney to protect Canada from Donald Trump.
Fair enough.I am not speaking to anything but their performance tonight. Their leader seemed like a good dude.
Speak of the devil.Depends on where you go.
Alberta and Saskatchewan have Conservatives that would fit right in at a Dump rally.
Smith had warned heading into the election that a Liberal win could lead to an “unprecedented national unity crisis,” if Carney didn’t, within his first six months, undo a handful of Liberal policies that she said unfairly hampered Alberta’s oil and gas sector.
“Albertans will no longer tolerate the way we’ve been treated by the federal Liberals over the past 10 years,” Smith said in a social media post.

Reform Party founder Preston Manning soon upped the ante, calling Carney himself a “threat to national unity” in a widely circulated op-ed.

Manning wrote that “large numbers of Westerners simply will not stand for another four years of Liberal government, no matter who leads it.”

He predicted that, if Carney were to emerge victorious from Monday’s election, he “would then be identified in the history books, tragically and needlessly, as the last prime minister of a united Canada.”
Rumor on Threads (Bluesky was down again this AM) was Doug Ford was gonna run for party leader. That’s really uncomfortable though and not stable.
Depends on if PP holds onto power or not (contingent on if he wins his seat) and, if they do replace him, who he gets replaced with. Do the Conservatives select a “moderate” or are they so fully captured by the Heritage Foundation that they select wacko?
Well, who knows what happens now that PP has lost his seat.Rumor on Threads (Bluesky was down again this AM) was Doug Ford was gonna run for party leader.
CTV and CBC last night (btw show some excitement guys...yawn) seemed to think even if PP lost his seat he would stay as leader. I watched an interview with a conservative MP (a guy who is friends with Vance) and it seems they all hate Ford on that side of the party. Sets up a fight between the PP and Ford wings.Well, who knows what happens now that PP has lost his seat.
Ford would probably be a good choice but I’d imagine the Tories from Alberta will raise hell at someone again from Ontario being leader.
It already sounds like Alberta’s Premier Danielle “Annex Me Daddy” Smith is ginning up the Alberta separatist talk so it’s doubtful that the PP wing is fully united at this point.CTV and CBC last night (btw show some excitement guys...yawn) seemed to think even if PP lost his seat he would stay as leader. Having watched 3 of the speeches last night...the NDP Leader was maybe my favorite with Carney being a step behind. PP sucks.
Pretty much. They’re a mix of Texas and Alaska, awash with oil money, populist rhetoric, and far right insanity.Alberta wants to be the 51st state? What they see Wyoming and go "yeah daddy get me some of that!"?
When I was in Fort McMurray a couple of years ago it reminded me a lot of Wasilla and Fairbanks.I didn’t realize Alberta was truly that conservative. Only 3/19 seats from Edmonton and Calgary went non-con.
I knew they were crazy cons but yeesh that is hilarious.Pretty much. They’re a mix of Texas and Alaska, awash with oil money, populist rhetoric, and far right insanity.
Alberta is at 4.2 million according to their 2021 census data, Saskatchewan at 1.1 million. Minnesota has 5.7 million. Heck Minnesota has a higher population than BC.I knew they were crazy cons but yeesh that is hilarious.
Then again I just looked at the populations...Saskatchewan has just over a million and Alberta 5 million. Minnesota alone almost equals themI propose a trade...
I saw Alberta over 5...but either way it aint muchAlberta is at 4.2 million according to their 2021 census data, Saskatchewan at 1.1 million. Minnesota has 5.7 million. Heck Minnesota has a higher population than BC.
Basically, Alberta and Saskatchewan run on oil and other resources and are worried that the Liberals and their climate policies will destroy their economies. They also resent the Federal Government for “stealing” their revenue from said resources to fund programs. Oh, and they’re extremely distrustful of “immigrants”.
Sound familiar?
