Count me in for a new site as well if we end up going down that road. As well as being willing to pay a little if necessary. Not sure what I would do if this site disappeared and there was no replacement. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I had considered myself a slightly right-of-center/independent until the 2016 campaign and started lurking in the Cafe. It didn't take long for me to realize that I had been extremely misinformed the last 30 plus years. I have to be honest, I've had a man-crush on Kepler since I first started reading his posts and, was genuinely disappointed when he took his hiatus to work on the elections. I have a FB account but hardly ever actually go on there. My only request is that we decide on a place we're going to be able to find out what our next step is soon, just in case they shut this thing down unexpectedly.

Funny you mention that - I'm still clinging to my (lower-case "l") libertarian philosophy, however Trump in specific and the right's reaction and response to COVID in general has horrified me. My dad and one of my brothers have both accused me of turning into a "left wing coastal elite" very recently.

Well, fine. Then I'll be an elite something.

this made me laugh. I am a pragmatist at heart but my actually considering the consequences of simplistic thinking has never held sway with dad les. He has accused me of being a "commie pinko" since my college years when I... gasp... asked about Reagan's trickle down policies because I didn't understand the logic and I didn't get how people believed it would work. And my college professors turned me into a socialist. I think I was the first girl in the family to go thru college and getting a second degree didn't help any
 
Mookie remembers a poli sci prof at bu who claimed the only difference between rep and dem was the rep wanted to give $0.03 to school milk and the dem wanted to give $1.03 :)
 
Messaged Board on FB after being unable to get on last night. Who ever Board is, they replied that they were putting in a fix this morning. Told me to file a ticket. Replied multiple people had put in tix with no response so wasn't sure there was anyone dealing with them

I asked about the rumors they were planning to shut the Forum down. No plan to do that.

Database issues were the cause of the multiple outages. Supposedly something multiple forums were experiencing.

So, there you have it
 
A. The day I met alfa was at the Detroit Marathon expo. It was a good day in a chaotic time (my Mom had passed 1.5 months prior).

B. I'm missing poster meetups. Even with school and work, I am eager to actually meet so many of you.

C. I think a mod would do well to at least suspend CM and Jeb. In the old days, this was possible, as board cared and struck down trolls with great vengeance and furious anger. These days, Flaggy would be allowed to run amok.
 
Lets be fair...they let Flaggy run wild too. Every few months they would warn hi or suspend hi which would calm him for a week or so but he would have been banned on any other board I frequent.
