Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

burd

The pizzed off electorate in the primaries should have been a warning sign. In a "normal" world, HRC and a centrist GOP (Jeb!?) should have crushed the opposition by spring training or Opening Day (must always be capitalized).

Not this year. Bernie did very well and won rust belt states. tD channelled Howard Beall and left the 13 dwarves wondering what happened. The warning signs were there. But "the will not to believe" overrode what the eyes saw and the ears heard.

The blame for the Dems loss goes to the DNC and the HRC campaign. They were the 2016 equivalent of Tom Dewey. Don't blame the voters who are mad as heck and refuse to take it anymore. The Dems misread the electorate and paid the price. The elites misread/pooh pooed tD as a buffoon and every time they belittled tD, the little guy felt it.

There are a lot of good articles in the liberal press (I read the WaPo and Boston Globe each day) that are beginning to analyze the election to see where they went wrong. One of the better ones said the press took tD literally but not seriously while the electorate took tD seriously but not literally. Thit, even Fox News is guilty of that.

Now, for better or for worse, tD is the president-elect. Let's see what has been rolled out by Memorial Day to see if tD was literal or figurative.

Be the loyal opposition. Hold the GOP accountable. Pray, as I do, that compromise and good old fashioned horse trading (and pork) return to the Hill. If we screw up, tell us. Offer an alternative. Point out the flaws, as you see them, in the legislation. I promise I'll read them and not denounce you as some narcissist twit. We'll argue, civilly I hope, and since we can't solve a darn thing, hope that our political masters do the same and get some work done.

With that, my retired fat arse is returning to bed. A word of advice - taking care of an aging relative is like taking care of a baby. Sleep is a luxury you grab when you can

Dont blame the voters? They voted (or chose not to) the only people to blame are the voters. I dont care how mad you are if you choose to vote for a Fascist you dont get to play the "it isnt my fault" card. He didnt hide who he was, they knew what they were doing. When he screws them, they dont get to complain about it.

It all comes down to choice...the Dem voters could have voted for Bernie in the Primaries and didnt. The average voter could have voted against hatred and in the General and didnt. The people themselves could have stopped this and they were too lazy or moronic to do so. I dont care if you are mad you dont burn down your house because the windows are broken.

And funny...I dont remember you saying any of this when Obama was elected...funny how that is.

Subscribed because I've moved on to acceptance.

I'm not a huge fan of having Keith Ellison run the DNC. I know he's more in touch with groups like BLM, but I'm not sure I want him being the face of the DNC. The kind of tactics that he's been part of and his son have been associated with might not be the best if they are trying to "re-court" the angry white men. A portion of the AWM are angry because they've been left behind by he plutocrats. That's what they need to target. I am coming around on the idea that we can't call them racists since that won't win them back. I'm not sure how you court them without addressing the soft racism of ignorance of other demos' struggles.

Maybe I'm off about this though.

I think I would like to see Dean get it. I'm not sure what the general feeling is about either of them or how well Dean ran it.

I don't know because when he was in charge, I was fairly outspoken against the Democrats. I think both I and the parties have shifted since then. The 50-state strategy seems like a better plan.

They arent recourting the angry white voter...Warren and Sanders want to go left and bring in all the liberals and the Progressives. They will deal with the Rust Belt in different ways but the idea of Ellison is to drop the "Centrist" Agenda, go away from courting Wall Street and be the true Party of the Left. What Warren wants is for the Party to go Anti-Clinton and they need to. That is why she doesnt want Dean to get the job.

Ellison can do the same 50 state agenda that Dean did...and he can also shore up the constituencies of the minorities and the "Never Hillarys/Bernie Bros". They lost because 5-7 million Liberals stayed home...those people listen to Ellison type politicians. (hence his re-election)

I agree that 6M dem voters who didn't vote for Hillary are dumb but telling them that might not be the best strategy ;)

Actually it might be. I am tired of living in a world where we let people do dumb things without telling them they are doing dumb things. Trump just won the presidency by discarding any semblance of filters. I say it's time to speak to people in loud clear words exactly how stupidly they've behaved. Some of the bad things that are going to happen in the coming months and years were going to happen no matter who won on Tuesday. But plenty of them are going to be because 6 million Democratic voters were dumb. They need to be told that. Again and again.

Good luck with that :)

Around 60 million people voted for Trump. Do you really believe this country is overloaded with smart people, educated or otherwise? Most of Trump's voters are so stupid they are probably still trying to figure out what electricity has to do with the Electrical College.

Good god are you dumb

(That does feel better ;) )

Blanket statements like this are one of the reasons liberals lost. They discounted any opinions that were not their own, and insulted half the country.

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

Are you an anti-Trumper, Brent? Forget about whether you feel rage, were you anti-Trump going into this election?

You're kidding, right? I thought both main candidates were garbage.

And Deutsche fan is continuing to spew the hate that s/he rips the Trumpers for spewing.

That's true. Brent was fair and balanced (really).

So is anybody surprised at the number of over the top Trump supporters that are poor winners on FB? Somebody was just talking about how bummed they were...and unprovoked someone posted 'grieve baby grieve'. Now one might say yeah...but look at how Dems were in 2008. What I remember was that Dems were pretty excited about Obama and his positive message...and not slamming pro Romney supporters. In fact, didn't Romney supporters disparage Obama supporters saying that we were worshipping him like a god?

Am I remembering this right? Is there systematic negativity going on from conservatives?

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

So, Paul Ryan says that part of repealing Obamacare means we need to privatize Medicare, since it's going broke because of Obamacare. Which, first, is a blatant lie, Obamacare shored up Medicare.

But they'll do anything to further their republican agenda, and Trump will rubberstamp anything they want, as long as they don't get in the way of what he wants.

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

Got this from someone who works at the University of Minnesota.

Asian American girl was attacked last night at the University of Minnesota. Told to go home and get out of America. Physically attacked her. She defended herself. She was issued a Citation. Attacker was given nothing.

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

Oh, and one more thing that worries me a little.

Did anyone else watch Donald's body language when he was speaking to the press with Obama? He looked terribly disinterested and bored. It was the kind of posture you see a bored husband take if he was dragged to a baby shower. Just staring off in space and to try and fool everyone that he was paying attention he would flick his attention back to Obama and raise his entire brow. That's the kid of face I make when I'm trying to feign interest. :D :D

I saw that...and of course he was bored he had to split attention.

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

We've seen this song and dance in 2008... let's see if the gloaters actually try some vigilance...

You know for someone who "hated both candidates" you are strutting around here like a proud peacock. Further proof you whole "conspiracy theory" agenda is nothing but a ruse. Enjoy Frauddy you got exactly what you wanted just like when you voted in the last clown this party put forth.

That will bankrupt me as soon as I hit retirement 17 years away now. I guess I should have expected that. After all, I wasn't responsible enough with my own money.

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

Nice to see they are green and recycling stories from 2000

That too suggested EV'ers cast their ballots using their conscious

Oh they say it every election. I remember GOPers hoping for in 2008 as well. I was more talking about the votes that have yet to be counted part.

If Medicare is privatized, how does that make it any different than our health industry as it already exists? Privatizing it basically just does away with it.
