Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an election

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

The GOP's problems almost all come back to the paradox that the shtick they do to pander to their base makes the other 75% of the country sick.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

Well with Uncle Joe, he really needs to sh! t or get off the pot. Even if he does announce now, its going to be a bit anti-climatic. I can see him waiting until Hillary does the Ben Ghazi! thing but that committee is sinking faster than the Titanic. Even if she was guilt of.....what exactly is the crime again?....she's smarter than the entire committee combined and has a good chance of eating them alive. I also keep coming back to it, which is the optics of an obviously partisan Congressional committee continuing to haul female witnesses for public inquisitions in front of a 99% male panel.

Question is whether Hillary's campaign is mortally wounded. The vibe is she just can't move it onward. I still don't know that if Vermont Bernie gets into the finals...that he has a chance to win. His inability to get minorities is a double concern. For those reasons, I don't think its too late for Joe. But the time is now.

Why would her campaign be mortally wounded? E-mail thing is shaping up to be a sham. Regardless of what one feels about her, do you really think she did anything incriminating after 25 years of being under intense scrutiny? I'm guessing probably not. If there was anything to be found, we would have heard about it already.

Watergate was a sham too until they found the smoking gun.

What did Hillary know and when did she know it?

And where's her long form birth certificate?

There's nothing there. If it wasn't yet another political sideshow, they'd be calling in Colin Powell and other former SecState's who did the same thing.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

On Monday, Jason Lewis tossed his hat into the ring for the MN Congressional District #2 race. The incumbent, John Klein - R, is retiring at the end of his term. Lewis, a radio talk show host with an extensive history in MN, and a national radio show from which he dramatically quit while on air, now makes the fourth Republican and the sixth overall candidate to declare for this race. Given the makeup and voting history of the district, it's really just a matter of which Republican wins. Right now, from the limited knowledge I have of the candidates thus far declared, he'd would likely be the prohibitive front runner due to local name recognition alone.

God I remember growing up hearing his show come on every evening in the car. My dad is a liberal but often listened to these shows on AM1500 back with KSTP was an absolute powerhouse. (And I really mean powerhouse with the lineup they had.)

I had no idea he quit. But this is an interesting line:
Lewis left his KTLK (1130 AM) radio show last year to focus on his libertarian website, Galt.io, which named after the libertarian hero of the Ayn Rand novel, "Atlas Shrugged."

I went there to see what it was about and I was kind of taken aback:
Galt.io is a members-only network of makers inspired by “Galt’s Gulch” from Ayn Rand’s classic novel “Atlas Shrugged”. Members are part of a virtual economy that uses Galtcoins to invest in causes. Unlike social networks that gather around frivolous interactions between members, Galt.io members collaborate around serious issues concerning our country, politics and government. Members who contribute to the community earn Galtcoins through dividends, voting and updates.

Galt.io launched on May 15, 2014 and has already become the most engaging network anywhere on the internet. Our members are more active and dig deeper than any other network in the world, period. The economy has already grown to over 1.1 billion Galtcoins and 6.4 million shares owned. What was originally intended as a small but powerful community has already grown to over 4 thousand Members and continues to see accelerated growth every day. This has happened despite the membership requirement of having to be invited by an existing member. Even with the growth we’ve seen, we have been unable to accommodate the growing demand of people who want to become members and can’t find an invite.

While we still consider Galt.io to be in BETA, we are taking steps to help the community grow by accepting new members without losing sight of our commitment to quality over quantity when it comes to our members.

Galt.io started out as a Crowdfunding effort with the goal of raising $250K to begin development of the vision. The goal was surpassed the next day and eventually brought in pledges of over $700K and was one of the most successful Crowdfunding campaigns in history. This accomplishment is even more amazing when you consider that it was done independently, without the benefit of an established crowdfunding network. While the levels of engagement we’ve seen have exceeded even our expectations, the crowdfunding success can be attributed to our members/pledgers who, like us, saw the need for something like Galt.io to exist and put their time and money behind it to make it happen.

Oddly enough, another radio talkshow host (Dave Thompson) from the old days of AM1500 has been rumored to be interested but has since denied he's interested.

About what? What's being investigated again?

Interesting you bring up Watergate. Did you know that commission already wrapped up its work in quicker fashion than this Ben Ghazi! one?

Dave Thompson is the state senator for my voting district. He has reasonably high approval ratings, last I checked. I think he's happy working in St. Paul.

The interesting part about Jason Lewis's candidacy is that he's an anti-war conservative who has called for shrinking the defense budget in addition to the overall federal budget. He has a long history of making these comments on his show since he came back from his time in North Carolina, which makes me wonder how well he'd be received in Washington, or if he'd kowtow to party pressure while there.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

Question is whether Hillary's campaign is mortally wounded.

It depends on what the Clintons do with the initiative now that they have it back. Summer was all about GOP hit squads in the Echo Chamber and Congress trying to bring back both horns and the tail. They certainly succeeded in getting their constituency cranked back up to 11 in Hillary Hatred, but those people were never going to vote for her anyway.

It probably affected her peripherals with lofos, but there's more than a year to the election, so if the "investigations" now shutter not only will any damage be forgotten, but she may wind up stronger for it. The GOP strategy is clearly to just throw everything at the wall, and for them to have been exposed so blatantly and so early as at best fishing, they may have actually shot themselves in the foot. Now, whenever any conservative or media minion is "deeply troubled," it's going to look like gamesmanship unless they can prove otherwise. They've shifted the onus onto themselves by overreaching.

tl; dr: Nothing that happens before February means squat.

Those guys learn quickly that they either tow the party line or they don't get any goodies.

Speaking of which, I wonder if ear marks will make a comeback now that Congress has basically demonstrated it can't be led without them as a carrot/stick for leadership to use on eejits. There are definitely ways the process could be reformed so it wouldn't be simply a matter of log rolling. My wife once explained to me, very patiently, why all the complaining about ear marks was actually completely missing the point, but as with much of her dulcet tones I have somehow misplaced the memory.

He cracks me up. He moved to the Carolina's after *****ing on the radio for years about Minnesota and it's liberal policies. And then he moves back here. And now he wants to be elected so he can change those policies?

Move back to Carolina where you belong.

You mean like Rand Paul? Or Ron Paul. Or any of the many other more libertarian conservatives. They exist. There's just not many.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

House knuckledraggers and frankly some USCHO posters don't seem to realize its not 1995 anymore. They don't have the ability to manufacture a scandal and then plant stories for a compliant lamestream media to run with. Not that the media isn't still compliant, but the BS portion of the scandal is exposed long before it hits the maintstream. A similar dynamic is playing out with Planned Parenthood. We've already seen the doctored video trick.

In any investigation, you need to put up or shut up at some point or people lose interest.

Who twisted your panties into a knot, Scooby?

He moved back to Minnesota some five or six years ago, got a contract with KTLK to re-start his show here. The contract was bigger than his NC contract, his family is all from Iowa (his side) and Minnesota (wife's side), and the station had an agreement in place to help him move national if his ratings were strong enough. The ratings were strong enough and they so they followed through on the national show. Since he quit radio he's now looking into running in a solidly red district. I wouldn't doubt if he quit last year knowing that Kline wouldn't run again in 2016.

I don't like him and I don't like his incessant whining. His commentary articles in the Star Tribe were incessant whining as well.

Good news for you, he's not running in your district!

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

This looks like fun.

This is a conflict between two terrible humans. DWS I think most people have sussed out is a Clinton apparatchik who is running the DNC with all the ethics and aptitude of Katherine Harris. Gabbard is the stupidest Member of Congress. Let that sink in for a moment. She's also completely nuts -- what if Tracy Flick belonged to a radical Hari Krishna minority sect so bizarre the main HKs kicked them out (let that sink in...) and had a wealthy Republican father who bankrolled her to a Democratic House seat.

I look forward to this destroying both their careers.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait... R.T. Rybak holds a position of power in the DNC? I'm... shocked.
