Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an election

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

I don't like any religion clouding the views of people in any office from Rowan County clerk on up.

So you're saying you wouldn't advocate putting a Muslim in charge of the nation?:D

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

Let's try another one: "I would not advocate putting an evangelical Christian fundamentalist in the white house."
Acceptable personal opinion, or pure evil? :p
Yeah, maybe the guy's a jerk but I think it's being a little overblown. The outrage meter is pretty sensitive if you say "Muslim."

Stupid and I would think his handlers would tell him to get out.

I am not voting for the guy anyways, he is a nutjob and I dont agree with any of his views. I am saying if you say stupid stuff about religions it should be the death knell. He should not be saying any religion should disqualify them...

As for the outrage meter...it hasnt even come close to how bad it will be in two months over the Christians being persecuted around Santa-Time :p

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

So, Carson doesn't advocate formal discrimination, but merely prejudice and bigotry.

Model citizen.

Fiorina said something very interesting when asked about Carson's comments. In the first breath she said he was wrong because the Constitution explicitly bars a religious test, and that our founding principle is to judge the person on their actions and not because of identity. In her very next breath she said personally believes having a faith "makes a better leader." She then reeled off a list of attributes (humbleness, optimism) that have no causal relation with faith. Yes, religion may relate to the way in which you, personally, feel and express these things, but they are also felt and expressed by people of no religion. The depressing thing was it was obvious she had no idea she was being inconsistent, because suspicion of atheism is such a ground state in this country that most believers even fail to notice it.

I appreciate you trying to take cover now, but "doesn't think they should run" (personal preference) is NOT the same as "should NOT BE ALLOWED to run" (what you actually said). :p Sorry for enjoying this...

Taking cover? Are you drunk posting again...old man it is not even noon ;)

I stand by what I said, I think that is what he is saying. If you dont that is your deal not mine :)

Hey shut off your outrage meter! ;)

It would be kinda funny though if a Muslim said that they wouldnt advocate Christians running for office...I wonder how the outrage meter would be going then ;)

Of and just so we are all not confused...I dont think any candidate should say what religion they are nor should their religious beliefs have any basis on whether they can or should run. I believe actual things they do or say should matter, not which invisible man and his book of rules they believe in. (if they believe in one) :)

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

OMG. Use your brain. She lied.

She's not living that one down either. You can't tell the world you've seen a murder committed on tape by a well known organization as part of their standard opearting procedures and then not produce the video. An easy follow up question is "Ms Fiorina if this unknown tape is true aren't you advocating everybody in Planned Parenthood be arrested for murder or accessory after the fact?" She now owns it. Dumb move. There's fine line to walk in the GOP primary. Say enough to excite the base, but not something that's going to kill you in the general election. She failed on that count.

That's a good point, and may relate to her lack of experience in politics. You have to calibrate your lies to the occasion. :)

Yes, that was a very weird, impolitic moment. I wonder if one of her advisers polluted her talking points with the supposed existence of this snuff film, or if she just made it up on the spot? Either way...

We agree. What if we could get everyone to agree to drop the religious questions and instead focus on the individual candidates, regardless of how their ideals were founded?

Then we are going to Vegas because that would take all the luck in the world!

But yes, I would totally support that. :)

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

I thought that was a defining moment for the new show. Colbert said it as a gentle reprimand but it spoke volumes. And then he proceeded to eviscerate Cruz with questions, but on the merits. And, to be fair, Cruz stuck to the merits and made his case (albeit with political ornamentation, but what are you gonna do, he's a politician running for office).

That was an outstanding interview in every respect. Just as the Biden interview was in very different ways. People should not underestimate or pigeonhole Colbert -- he's something very special.

Nailed it. It was an incredible, yet easily missed moment. You just don't see something like that very often today.

Absolutely brilliant line from Reddit:

Kim Kardashian's marriage to Kris Humphries: 72 days

Scott Walker's Presidential campaign: 70 days

Jonah Goldberg, eh? That's kinda scraping the bottom of the pundit barrel.

Good piece in the LA Times on Fiorina and the abortionists.

http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-0922-goldberg-fiorina-planned-parenthood-20150922-column.html

The biggest zinger is at the end when Hillary says she wouldn't support any limit on abortion at any time during the pregnancy. Wow! Talk about fringe!

Not really fringe. After reading this article today I agree 100% with Hillary.

http://www.startribune.com/why-i-had-an-abortion-after-20-weeks/328572811/

Why I had an abortion after 20 weeks
There was no hope. My baby would either die in the womb or shortly after birth. This wasn’t a decision I’d expected to face, but I’m glad it was mine to make.
Here's her conclusion but you should read the whole thing for context. She really wanted the baby.

According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, just more than 1 percent of abortions take place at week 21 or later, many because of devastating medical situations like ours. Each of these mothers must battle through her own hell to decide on and find the medical care she needs, gather her friends and family to lean on, and grieve.

Congress should not take this decision away from any woman — any family — in need. Banning abortions after 20 weeks would be arbitrary, and its consequences would place an unimaginable burden on women like me.

When an abortion was the best of only horrible options, I was beyond grateful that one was available in a safe, compassionate medical establishment. And that my family could begin to heal. I hope our senators will consider women and families like mine before casting their votes.

Can't say I'm familiar with him, but at least what he writes here has the ring of truth.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

I've seen video of Johan Goldberg saying he likes animals. I also have seen a completely unrelated video of a guy getting busy with a goat. If I combine these two unrelated videos, which I can't produce mind you, one would have to conclude that.....;)

See how easy this is?
