Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is awful

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is aw

My grandparents were all born in PA, but my great-grandparents were either born in PA or Deutschland. Another generation back and it becomes more diverse. After that it's pretty static with a 50-50 split between PA and various European nations for a great many generations as my father's side of the family arrived in Colonial times.

Not much diversity for me.

Grandparents: 2 in PA, 1 in NY, 1 nobody knows (evidently he had a gypsy soul, considering he didn't stay for the wedding or, knowing grandma, likely the night, however we do know his line... did I mention grandma was a Charity Girl?)

Great grandparents: 2 in Slovakia, 2 in Czechia (all actually in the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary); 2 in Norway, 2 in Italy.

My line moves but has little imagination...

As people like to say, we have a Do Nothing Congress and should the law be reviewed by friendly judges, then the checks and balances may not be what they seem.

The problem is though one "check" has decided to check out. They dont get to have it both ways. Either they do their job and let their voice be heard or they run the risk of something worse.

That is what will play out in the Senate if the Dems take control. They will give the GOP a chance to show they are willing to do their job and if they wont the Dems will get rid of Cloture and it is all over but the shouting. The GOP can stop the Executive Orders and the trashing of Cloture but they have to be willing to compromise. That doesnt mean saying no and pouting til they get their way, they need to actually sacrifice something to get something.

Lets put it this way...why should the Dems whether it is the Executive or the Senate be forced to do nothing just because Congressional GOPers cant be bothered to care? By law they dont have to so why should they let the GOP hold the country hostage?

Not good enough. You're still a Jew. I mean, you still can't vote.

Beggars shouldn't be choosy.

Pretty sure my gf would kick me out of the house we just bought ;)

On another topic:

It Looks Like The Rothchilds Got to Glenn Beck!!

Beck went even further in the interview, saying President Obama "made me a better man." This is the man who called Obama a Marxist. a racist with a "deep-seated hatred for white people" and who once asked a guest if Obama might be the Antichrist.

"I did a lot of freaking out about Barack Obama," Beck conceded to The New Yorker. He said he regrets calling the president a racist and he said he considers himself a Black Lives Matter supporter.

“There are things unique to the African-American experience that I cannot relate to,” Beck told The New Yorker. “I had to listen to them."

Alright, obviously I'm not going to convince anyone here. I understand. Your party is in power so where's the problem.

I'll simply leave you with an "I told you so," preemptively. :) Sooner or later the shoe will be on the other foot. Contrary to Rover's theory of the Thousand Year Democratic Reich, one party doesn't stay in power forever. We're going down the wrong path on this one.

It's not. The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order, for instance.

It also applied to slaves who were, at the time, not under the control/jurisdiction of the US Government. It was a greatly symbolic piece of paper, but it carried no weight.

They are? That's a silly assertion now that Republicans control both chambers of Congress, half the SCOTUS, something like 35 state governors, and about the same number of state legislatures.

So was Roosevelt's order to round up the Japanese and Inter them.

A friend voted on Facebook and posted this:
I voted. Sorry about your long wait time [North Dakota fan], I only spent 0.6 seconds in line at my polling place!

THAT is a sick burn.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is aw

Yeah, and the point is such orders have been around since the beginning. They haven't morphed over time.
And my original point is that I'm not in favor of expanding the use of them, or even worse, hiding them as "memorandums" or "notices" or whatever Obama now calls them. Can a President use one to do good? No question. Can a horrible error be made as well? Absolutely. Having a Court tell the Japanese a few years later that Roosevelt shouldn't have done it would be small consolation. Oh wait, that "check" didn't happen, did it.

Edit: Furthermore, for a collective that professes to hate facism, I find this support for single person legislating strange.

Oh, I read it all.

Then your response makes no sense. If you actually read what we posted you would know your conclusions are way off man. I mean I get it, you dont want to believe that it isnt bias that is the reasoning but yet it still is.

We arent supporting it. Jesus would you just read what people are saying. If the GOP would just do their flipping job none of us would even have to defend the act. Your party is causing all this crap because they are lazy and afraid. I know you dont like that but it is true. If they did their job none of this would be happening.

You want to stop Executive Orders...tell your party to sack up and go to work.
