Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

McMullin has taken a relatively significant slide in the last 48 hours. Clinton is now polling ahead of him for the last seven or eight releases.

Interestingly though, Clinton has gained while Trump has stayed flat.

I think all thst is left for Trump are the diehards. Hillary may be gaining the people who were thinking about 3rd party.

Considering that both third party platforms are insane along with their candidates that's good if that's what's happening. I have my doubts.

Again, he's entitled to his own reality.

Remember when the debates were over and we were like "thank god that's the last of these"? In retrospect, that was a great way to demonstrate to a national audience once a week that Hillary had ideas and Trump has taunts and rambling incoherence. We should just have them once a week until election day. Because apparently if you're a week and a half past them people immediately forget how one-sided they were, for a good reason.

Nice thought but I don't think the debates move the 42%. If you're thinking it might move the independents, that'd be great but in most cases I see people who claim to be independent but are set on not voting for either of them.

Well Independents tend to lean more Left than Right (especially in this Election) so he wont gain on his 42%. As long as Clinton stays above 44% I dont see much to worry about. If I was a betting man she gets to 47% when all is said and done.

BTW it doesnt hurt that Weld is saying it is important to elect Clinton and defeat Drumpf.

He all but endorsed her. Not sure he endorsed the top of his own ticket. LOL.

That's exactly what I was getting at with my post that Handy referenced. The public has the recall of a goldfish. They can't infer unless they see.

See, I would have guessed that more "independents" are right-leaning or Republicans too ashamed to admit it.

It seems to me that "Independents" are typically the out party. During the Dubya Disaster Indies consistently lined up with Dems on policy questions. Then once Obama won Tea Party and assorted racists started to seep in, especially when Republicans were eating their own. If Hillary wins and the GOP Civil War ramps up in earnest I'll bet the Indy category goes off the charts and includes everybody from libertarian conservatives to Trump's neo-fascists and brownshirts.

All the fiscal cons and all the paleocons except one that I know are voting for Hillary. For most of them it will be the only time in their lives they back a Democrat.

It's that important. Please, people. Do not f-ck around.

Two weeks ago I was hoping we could bury them with a 10-point win. Now I'm just hoping we can push back the night.

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. -- Albert Einstein

Nice call with "penultimate" in the thread title. though at the rate this thread filled up, maybe penulpenultimate?

The general public has the attention span of a gnat. If it is not happening RIGHT NOW THIS SECOND they forget about it. Heck look at news issues. Every day there is something newnto get mad/scared/etc about.

Well the people who were thinking 3rd party are going somewhere... remember a few months ago Johnson was polling up around 12%. That was of course before he proved himself to be a bit of a ninny. More recently he has been around 4%, so that 8% is going somewhere... weather they are going left or right or just stay home remains to be seen.
