Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

I haven't seen this question asked yet, so I'll do it.

What are the odds the establishment republicans try to switch to a super delegate structure similar to the democrats to prevent this from happening in the future?

I'd say it's a lock. Pretty sure I heard this is already going to happen.

"Liberty delegates." :)

It's already being talked about. I'd give it a 75% chance. But just pushing that through will enrage the Morlocks.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

Then they can split and screw themselves and the GOP in the process. It will be beautiful.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

Speaking of optics...little trump posing with women wearing " contra trump" shirts is priceless. The stupidity of these people is amazing

As someone in the comments also stated, even if they don't know Spanish (which I'm guessing they don't), contra still means against in English.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

If it said Super Contra, then we're talking a different thing altogether.

So they'll do it in summer 2017 or early 2018 when most don't notice or care.

The sooner (after the election) the better, so the 2020 "outsiders" don't grouse.

It's a recommendation from Autopsy 2.0 they can knock out. I suspect it will be done under the guise of "strengthening the states' voice" (translation: give the state party officials the ability to override their own voters). The DNC uses the same disingenuous language.

The other thing is this should finally kill the caucuses. I would also expect the parties to take a run at IA/NH. In IA they may get away with by saying the tradition was the caucus and they are transitioning to a primary so clean slate. Iowans will say "hey, we didn't nominate Trump" which, yeah, but they gave it to Cruz which isn't any better. NH was a dumpster fire this time around but good god they are self important with their "first primary" nonsense. Maybe pair it with somewhere reasonably responsible? I wouldn't mind seeking a handful of states that have a reasonably sized city but are not dominated by it. WA, OR, CO, GA, that sort of thing. I dunno, NV maybe?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

Ummm.....if 80% of the party is with Trump, WHY would these people allow a change in the primary process to screw over people like Trump? Guys, for the billionth fuking time, Trump IS the GOP. He's the perfect representation of it. We ain't going back to the days of Bush's winning the primary.

Look at it this way. Scooby thinks this will happen. That means you can bet the mortgage that it doesn't!

PS - With all of this high fiving and back slapping about predicting Trump's implosion, lets throw a little love Rover's way, who was waaaayyy out in front on this. ;)

Trump's party still controls most the United States elected seats of representation. Don't forget that. As you always seem to do. And don't do a victory lap. In two years when our party doesn't show up in the polls, as always, and the Republicans do another wave and destroy Clinton's Presidency just like they did Obama's in 2010.

Never forget that Obama's change election netted us almost zero change. Obama put a band-aid on a gaping wound cause that's all he was allowed to do. Don't think Mrs. Clinton is going to get much further.

As for the GOP. They're not done. Trump will be considered the anomaly and people will be right back to voting in Mitch, Rubio, Cruz, and Ryan. They're beloved. Mitch should have been crushed in his last campaign and he won easily. Don't forget that. I know I won't.

Because 80% of the party would support a door stop once it won the nomination.

Trump has zero institutional support in the GOP and even if he wanted to hang on to control he has zero knowledge. They have to back him (gingerly) until 11/9. Then the knives come out. The establishment will have the RNC back under its control and they will move to make sure this never happens again.

Kep its tough to win a war when the other side has 4 times as many troops. The GOP Establishment is impotent. The base doesn't give a rat's arse about what they want. That Duck Dynasty guy has a better chance at being the nominee in 2020 than these country club stiffs that you're pining for.

Scooby, your whole premise doesn't make sense. Obama has accomplished quite a bit. If you can't figure that out its not my job to educate you. In the meantime Hillary can (and will) pack the court system for decades to come as well as the regulators. If the GOP is relegated to winning low turnout mid term elections as the best they can do then good for them, but the power in the country is with 1) the Prez, 2) the courts, 3) the Senate, and then 4) the House. I'll take 3 out of 4 any day.

Now go back to telling us how Trump is going to win the election.

He did?

Guantanamo Bay still open.
War in the Middle East. Still going.
War in Afghanistan. Still going.
Obamacare. Imploding.
Middle Class. Imploding.
Infrastructure. Imploding.
Tax Reform. LOL.
Social Security and Medicare. Imploding.

The only thing he accomplished is steadying the rudder. He was blocked at every turn from doing anything of great significance.

If I recall, you had this race pegged perfectly, right down to predicting the Bedwetters' Caucus would go into full-on panic mode when the media announced the race was tightening around September.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

Everyone knew the race would tighten after the convention (literally everyone around here said it) some just chose to fall for it even though they knew they were being duped. It didnt help that Hillary got sick around then. (notice we dont hear much from the Notre Dame hockey guy ;) )

The problem was some of us looked and saw that even when everything tilted his way he was never better than 40% to win on 538 for more than like an hour. He never had the EVs and the Swing states were split guaranteeing a loss.

And Scooby, Hillary wont play nice like Obama did...she doesnt care about legitimizing her Presidency and reaching across the aisle. She can play the game just as well as the GOPers can. Jesus enjoy the win...

You're my new favorite poster. ;)

Handy, Scooby is programmed to lose. He takes comfort in that. He even enjoys it. He can't "enjoy the win" because he doesn't know what winning feels like! :D

Good point about the Notre Dame guy. Remember when he kept whining about when he was going to see the Clinton campaign go in for the kill?

The other side has zero troops. These decisions are going to be made by the adults in the room -- the 158 voting members of the Republican National Committee. Trump and his supporters won't be even allowed in by the servants' entrance.
