Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

I'm still wondering why people hate Hillary Clinton so much.

Other than accusations that have never stood up anywhere- what's the issue? Seriously- do Republicans have THAT BAD of lawyers??? With so many investigations and accusations, you'd think something would actually stick. Many of the investigations were very biased, largely driven by Republicans. And yet nothing.

I don't see any of her policies as something to hate over. And given her background, it's pretty easy to note that she's more qualified now than President Obama was 8 years ago. (and last time I checked, we still have a country, not one that is in tatters and ruins- people are still spending a lot of money on stuff).

In opposition, we have a guy who is basically telling us that half our population is ripe for abuse- either verbally for looks or physically for looks; and that one religion is worse than the rest; and that we have to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world; and make friends with people who just want to kill other people; who's tax policy adds up to a big tax break for him and others like him- which will either skyrocket the debt (much like the previous R administrations going back to Nixon) and/or suck the life out of people we really need to be spending money on stuff.

Who cares if her personality isn't approachable. Big deal.
This. I don't get the whole "Hillary is the worst!" argument. Hillary is your basic politician, the difference is her gender.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Given the amount of crazy coming out of the Trump campaign, and the fact that he has already pretty much declared war on the Paul Ryan GOP, I'm putting the odds of a tea partier being the bomber at 75%. This feels like retribution. The Trump people are definitely the more desperate ones with the motivation and inclination to pull something like this. But there are crazies everywhere now.
And if it was a Democrat, it had to be the stupidest liberal in the country: everything to lose, and nothing to gain with this.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

A lot of people don't even know why they hate her. It's been driven into us for so long that it's a Pavlovian response for many.

I have zero qualms voting for Hilary as she's qualified and is center-left, much like me.

She'll do some things I don't like or disagree with, but every politician has and my life will go on.

A vote for Hilary is also a vote against Trump and that's an even stronger motivation for me.

I have a few issues with her policies and I am not a big fan of political machines like hers. (see also: Bushes) I dont hate her but if given a better choice I will take it every time. I also admit I have some of the Pavlovian thing too...when she speaks on issues I find myself agreeing with her and liking her a lot...when she is not around the bias seeps in. I suspect this is true with many on the Left who arent her biggest fans. That was why the 2 weeks where she was out of public view and not speaking really (when she was sick) her numbers tanked and as soon as the debates started and she was speaking again her numbers soared.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

That's why I mentioned using the binary voting argument. YES, you can use a throwaway vote (3rd party, write in, etc). But as mentioned earlier, the whole "if you don't vote for X, you're voting for Y" argument is in play. So who "gets" a vote if one votes for that 3rd party/write-in? Given the two choices...a lot of people feel trapped.

This election is so f*ed it's sick. I know you can agree on that.

Funny you should mention this now. John Oliver did a fantastic job explaining why this election is a pick of the lesser of 4 evils. And the lesser of the 4 is Hillary by a wide margin. He dismantled and destroyed Jill Stein and Gary Johnson on POLICY. Yes, POLICY. Which they are both dumpster fires.

BTW on all three charts on 538 Drumpf is losing NC, FL OH, PA and VA. Polls Only and Nowcast have him losing Arizona. even leaving out Arizona (cause I doubt they flip to Blue) he has less than a month to flip all the Swing States or he might as well just quit. Seeing as he has already pulled out of Virginia, has declared war on Ohio's GOP and has never really had a chance in Pennsylvania I figure we are a week or so out from an even more epic meltdown.

I cant wait to watch that...I have been waiting for him to do it! His show (imho) is the best on TV...it takes what the Daily Show did and pushes it to the next level. I gotta think Stewart wishes he had waited a year to retire he probably would have won awards for the work he could have been doing daily

Those who have said gender is why people hate hillary so much are spot on. I don't love her, but it's funny how so many men can support a candidate so terrible and have such a hard time explaining why they can't like Hilary- but they loathe her. Lots of deep seeded sexism people don't like confronting.
John Oliver was, as usual, fantastic last night

He was the only poster I ever considered putting on ignore because of CAFE posts. I lost my mind after a series of awful posts (in one of the COPS threads IIRC) of his and made a viscous personal attack on him. It was so mean Kep neg repped me for it. Coincidentally the post that prompted my attack was the last one he ever made.
Your welcome.
Finished reading the weekend's posts in this thread. Honestly, this post disturbs me. "the post that prompted my attack was the last one he ever made. Your (sic) welcome."??????

There are obviously good posters and bad here, and on every message board. Politics makes for fiery arguments. But seriously. Seek some professional counseling. This is disturbing.

While there is an amount of deep seeded sexism, it isn't the major factor in Hillary hate. It's mainly four decades worth of right wing propaganda against anything remotely liberal. "Liberals don't help the working class whites, they just steal your money and give it to those lazy minorities who vote for them."

To be fair though plenty of women support him too. (in really disgusting ways) People suck :)

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

The odd thing is of the people that the Dems could have realistically put up for nomination (Sanders, Biden, Warren, etc) Hillary is the most centrist of the bunch. So, Goopers ought to be happy they're getting someone like that as opposed to Sanders or Warren. I happen to agree more with Warren's approach to knuckledraggers mind you, but I suspect Hillary will at least try to reach out at first. Difference is she won't give it 6 years like Obama did.

Honestly the only women I've seen support him are the ones at the rallies that the daily show airs clips from. Still can't find one in real life but I'm sure they exist. But I do think there's still a ton of sexism in this election. If Hilary had five kids from three dudes?

There are women on TV defending him all the time. Every news channel. Every panel discussion. His campaign manager is a woman. A female close relative of mine is supporting him and won't vote for Hillary because she's a woman.

They're all over the place.

Maybe he means ones that aren't getting paid. :D

That reminds me Scoobs, what are YOUR current odds of Trump winning? Are you finally down to only a 51% chance? :D

Yes she meant ones not getting paid and propped up on pills to get thru tv appearances ;)

No thanks...this girl believes you. Come to think of it, I've hidden lots of family and high school people long before this election, that likely helps

I think he's blown it, but I still reserve the right for an October surprise.
