[sigh]

Not your fault Handy, but I feel like we've reached a point of no return. And the problem is that no matter which candidate wins we're stuck with another election process that will include one of these two.

I will say this regarding all the smut stories out there. The prosecutor in the child rape case Trumpsters point to in order to disparage Hillary just said on CNN that she had asked to be removed from the case.

At least those dueling charges are just run of the mill dirty politics. Compared to the rest of Trump's candidacy they come off like the height of proper conduct.

Yeah WaPo fact checked that last night. She tried multiple times to not get put on the case. There was nothing nefarious about it (and the laughing BS was a flat out misleading piece of crap statement) she was doing her job. she is a lawyer after all...

Twitter is a buzz with the latest from Trump's rally tonight in Wilkes-Barre.

Dear Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, I Am Not Sidney Blumenthal
By Kurt Eichenwald On 10/10/16 at 7:45 PM

The documents that Wikileaks unloaded recently have been emails out of the account of John Podesta, the chairman of Clinton’s election campaign. Almost as soon as the pilfered documents emerged, Sputnik was all over them and rapidly found (or probably already knew about before the Wikileaks dump) a purportedly incriminating email from Blumenthal.

The email was amazing—it linked Boogie Man Blumenthal, Podesta and the topic of conservative political fevered dreams, Benghazi. This, it seemed, was the smoking gun finally proving Clinton bore total responsibility for the terrorist attack on the American outpost in Libya in 2012. Sputnik even declared that the email might be the “October surprise” that could undermine Clinton’s campaign.
Then came the money quote: "Clinton was in charge of the State Department, and it failed to protect U.S. personnel at an American consulate in Libya. If the GOP wants to raise that as a talking point against her, it is legitimate," said Blumenthal, putting to rest the Democratic Party talking point that the investigation into Clinton's management of the State Department at the time of the attack was nothing more than a partisan witch hunt.

Those words sounded really, really familiar. Really familiar. Like, so familiar they struck me as something I wrote. Because they were something I wrote.
At a rally in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Trump spoke while holding a document in his hand. He told the assembled crowd that it was an email from Blumenthal, whom he called “sleazy Sidney.”

“This just came out a little while ago,’’ Trump said. “I have to tell you this.” And then he read the words from my article.

“He’s now admitting they could have done something about Benghazi,’’ Trump said, dropping the document to the floor. “This just came out a little while ago.”

The crowd booed and chanted, “Lock her up!”

This is not funny. It is terrifying. The Russians engage in a sloppy disinformation effort and, before the day is out, the Republican nominee for president is standing on a stage reciting the manufactured story as truth. How did this happen? Who in the Trump campaign was feeding him falsehoods straight from the Kremlin? (The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment).
For now, though, Americans should be outraged. This totalitarian regime, engaged in what are arguably war crimes in Syria to protect their government puppet, is working to upend a democracy to the benefit of an American candidate who uttered positive comments just Sunday about the Kremlin's campaign on behalf of Bashar al-Assad. Trump’s arguments were an incomprehensible explication of the complex Syrian situation, which put him right on the side of the Iranians and Syrian,s who are fighting to preserve the government that is the primary conduit of weapons used against Israel.

So no, Mr. Putin, I’m not Sidney Blumenthal. And now that you have been exposed once again, get the hell out of our election. And Mr. Trump—you have some explaining to do.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Good lord...not only did WikiLeaks get trolled (again) with BS Russian propaganda but this time Drumpf and the nimrods in charge of his campaign got catfished along with them! I am sure Scooby will talk about how this will have serious play but now it is undeniable he is not fit to have a TV show on MTV let alone hold public office. I bet a 2 minute Google Search would have proven the story wrong but him and his handlers are too stupid to even do that much. What a clown show...what an insult to the Party of Lincoln.

And now we have absolute proof that Assange is getting all of his crap from the Russian Hackers at the Kremlin proving he has zero credibility and is nothing but Putin's stooge. If the Russians want to influence our elections they will have to do more than fabricate emails. Suck it Putin!

The story you linked was updated BTW:

Updated | I am Sidney Blumenthal. At least, that is what Vladimir Putin—and, somehow, Donald Drumpf—seem to believe. And that should raise concerns not only about Moscow’s attempts to manipulate this election, but also how Drumpf came to push Russian disinformation to American voters.

An email from Blumenthal—a confidant of Hillary Clinton and a man, second only to George Soros at the center of conservative conspiracy theories—turned up in the recent document dump by Wikileaks. At a time when American intelligence believes Russian hackers are trying to interfere with the presidential election, records have been fed recently to Wikileaks out of multiple organizations of the Democratic Party, raising concerns that the self-proclaimed whistleblowers group has become a tool of Putin’s government. But now that I have been brought into the whole mess—and transformed into Blumenthal—there is even more proof that this act of cyberwar is not only being orchestrated by the Russians, but that they are really, really dumb.

The evidence emerged thanks to the incompetence of Sputnik, the Russian online news and radio service established by the government controlled news agency, Rossiya Segodnya.

The best part:

The Russians were quoting two sentences from a 10,000 word piece I wrote for Newsweek, which Blumenthal had emailed to Podesta. There was no mistaking that Blumenthal was citing Newsweek—the magazine’s name and citations for photographs appeared throughout the attached article.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! How dumb are these people!!

I mean he knows Russia but he doesnt know Russia!! :D

That was one of the funniest moments in the debate. I had visions of Schultz saying, "I know NOTHING! I mean, I know everything but I know nothing."

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

It's about freaking time.

The amazing thing is that the men still don't get it. They think what Trump said is normal "boys will be boys" stuff. Sessions doesn't even think the act of grabbing a woman by her genitals is sexual assault.

And maybe even worse, they don't realize that Billy Bush and that smirking enabling of abusers is itself sexist and disgusting. It's not just adolescent, it's dangerous -- it's rape culture.

They don't get it and they never will.

On 538 we gave back NE-2. We are just starting to get the polls that include Pussygate and the debate. they should be rolling in all week, so we'll see if she's crested at D+11 nationally.

28 days is still a lifetime when the news cycle is 24/7 now.

That is why it is better not to watch this stuff day to day. Like I said before by Friday all the numbers should tell us where we stand. This latest fiasco with the BS Russian hack will take a few days to register too.

Well, just like stock portfolio it will only drive you crazy. But just like potato chips...

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Interesting piece on whether evangies are going to finally move on from the cinnamon sexist.

Dubois writes about Beth Moore, who preaches in arenas and writes perennial best-sellers on religious lists:

“I’m one among many women sexually abused, misused, stared down, heckled, talked naughty to. Like we liked it. We didn’t. We’re tired of it,” Moore said. She also had a word about evangelical leaders still supporting Trump: “Try to absorb how acceptable the disesteem and objectifying of women has been when some Christian leaders don’t think it’s that big a deal.”

Moore’s broken silence about the 2016 race—rooted in her own experience with sexual assault—signals a widening gender divide between evangelicals. Increasingly, moderate and conservative Christian women are speaking out about Trump’s brand of misogyny and divisiveness, and condemning support for the nominee or silence about him from male evangelicals.

“When Christian women like Beth Moore choose to publicly speak about their own experience with sexual assault, it signals to me that they do not feel heard or understood by fellow Christian leaders who continue to support Trump,” Katelyn Beaty told me. Beaty, until recently the print managing editor of Christianity Today, the country’s largest evangelical Christian publication, is the author of A Woman’s Place: A Christian Vision for Your Calling in the Office, the Home, and the World. “Moore and others are saying to their fellow leaders, the one-in-six statistic”—of women who have experienced sexual assault—“includes me. When will you believe me and stand up for me?”

I know of three women on Facebook who don't get it, one women went so far as to say she's heard worse in bars, get over it. But seriously, I think it's not that they don't get it, but it's that they are consumed by their hatred of Hillary that it clouds their viewpoint. That's why I asked earlier - what it, say, Biden was the nominee and this happened? Would these women be singing a different tune?
