Clinton went from 60/40 to 80/20 because he winged it. He lost all support from the middle and the Republicans are fleeing in droves. I mean sure he is still holding support but he is not going to win by winging it.

I really don't think he was going to win anyways, to be honest. And (tinfoil hat time) even if he DID somehow win....he'd be out of office very quickly because of (insert whatever reason you want; doesn't matter).

Mike Pence Needs to Work on His PR Skills if He Ever Wants to Be Prez

Look I get it, there are legals steps that can be used to try and overturn the wrongful conviction...but why waste the time, energy and taxpayer money on it when you can just pardon the guy and get it over with. He was wrongfully convicted, took a deal to get released when new evidence came out that proved he didnt do it (cause a new trial would have kept him jail longer while he was re-tried) and now ten years later that felony is holding him back from advancement in his career. Hell even former prosecutors wrote to Pence saying to pardon the guy...this is a slam dunk! The amount of good will you get for doing the humane (and correct) thing far outweighs any possible criticism that comes from it...plus it plays up your whole Christian persona.

But no, Pence is going to make him play it out and suffer...and it took him 3 years to tell the guy. (and by that I mean he had his general council tell him) Just stupid and his staff she be telling him to change his stance ASAP cause they could use the positive PR.

Serious question, and I agree this guy should be pardoned ASAP. The legal steps....are there ways around them? Or is this truly Pence being a jerkwad? Skimmed the article, and like always, the media doesn't always tell the whole story....

He is the Governor, he can pardon anyone that is why former prosecutors are asking him to pardon the guy. Using the "all legal channels" excuse is a stall tactic.

I didn't know if there were any "safeguards" in place, to prevent, say, a crooked governor pardoning some cronies and over-ruling everything just because he can. That sorta thing.

Some states have pardon boards, normally made up of the Governor, the attorney general, and a 3rd person.

Traditionally, though, the power of clemency is vested solely in the chief executive as a check on the other branches. That's still the case federally, for instance.
