Cruz is a *-tard, but at least he stood by what he believes in, and didn't endorse Trump. It's more than I can say for Bernie and his cave-in. Don't get me wrong, Cruz is a POS. Would never vote for him. But he never wavered. I'll give him that.

Dear lord...

You really have no clue.

Cruz is a scary dude, but I have to agree. Its pretty wild not giving into Trump in front of Trump's convention.

Don't know if I agree about Bernie though. Coming in behind Hillary isn't a big of a leap for Bernie...than for others to follow in behind Trump (Trump is cozying up to Russia, many GOP despise Russia more than Dems). Also, dems generally have a warm and fuzzy we're all in this together - Bernie is a part of that. Lastly, Hillary's adopting some of Bernie's platforms (probably more than she should).

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

The letters do mean the candidate has survived the nomination party process, and that carries a lot of policy baggage.

Bingo. This really speaks to the third party discussion too. No offense to Jane Steen and the Green Party, but while her specific goals and policies may vary, she's running as Pretty Much a Democrat. If she has to stand outside the building and try to siphon off Bernie supporters because she can't make it inside the convention hall full of people that largely agree with her on many issues, what is she going to do when she has to face an opposition party that doesn't agree with her ideas, or a foreign nation that is hostile to them? Same goes for Atlas Shrugged on the Libertarians ticket on the right. Voting for a third party isn't just a problem because they won't win, it's also the fact that they'd probably be a pretty crappy President.

This election, more than most, has shown how elastic the two major parties can be in terms of where they end up on their side of the spectrum. There are lots of legit third party candidates that people always yearn for, they just lose out in the primaries. If you don't like the final two options available because they don't match your views perfectly, tough luck. If you show up five minutes before dinner is on the table, you don't get much input in what is on the menu.

How you view those choices depends on what you are measuring. I suspect Bernie will influence policy in his party more through his choices than Cruz will through his. In fact, it appears Cruz' inability to play with others has gotten in the way of his ability to affect change.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

You'll always gain more power by building a wing in an existing party over starting a new one. That's why I find the whole third party thing silly. All third parties do is skew the results.

Perot? Fail.
Nader? Fail.
Tea Party? Success.
Bernie? Success.
Religious Right? Success.

And there's probably a bunch more examples that I can't think of right now.

While I see your point about Ted, I don't agree that Bernie caved in. He changed the platform that they are running on, and very much forced Hillary to shift to the left. When you see what he did for the whole platform, it made sense that he endorsed Clinton.

Cruz didn't get Trump to move at all. So it also made sense that Ted didn't budge.

You have to remember that as boisterous Sanders is, he's also a career politician- and as much as that's a bad thing these days- he also understands that you aim a LOT higher than you actually intend to get, as compromise is part of the process. That part is very lost these days. Bernie didn't waiver, he made Clinton change.

IMO this is a double misrepresentation. It asserts (1) Bernie was a wild-eyed purist who (2) has sold out. Neither reflects the true state of affairs:

(1) "Wild-eyed idealist" was a caricature of him by his detractors when they were trying to tear him down. Bernie has been in Congress for 26 years. He has always been a pragmatist.

(2) Given (1), his move after Hillary gained the nomination was inevitable. He cashed in what capital he amassed at the right time. He successfully influenced the system: gaining platform planks, getting Hillary on the record on various promises, and reintegrating his people with the broader Democratic party structure which they can continue to colonize and go forth and do good works.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto Hillary." -- Bernie 14:12

About the whole Khan family thing- based on the comments, it appears Trump equates losing time and money to losing a family member to death in battle.

Which is kind of what a lot of people have been suspecting about our recent wars for a long time- it's great to sacrifice somebody's life so that you don't have to sacrifice money.

Bernie accomplished something. Cruz accomplished nothing.

I guess you're into nothing.

This reflects the ethics of the plutocracy, which morally equates income gained from investments with income gained from going to work. The great impingement of work on one's life is the sacrifice of time and labor. The plutocracy equates this with the opportunity cost of where they decide to put their assets. It's the sociopathology of William Graham Sumner, which has been written into our laws because of a century and a half of bribery.

Jefferson warned us about this.

It's 2 a.m., and the Night Desk of the NY Post has a dilemma.

"If we run this it's gonna be terrible for the candidate we're backing."

"I know, but... well... just look. Just look!"

"It's up to you, Bob, you're the editor."

(tortured pause)

"PRINT THAT SUCKER!!!!"

Note: NSFW, if it's possible for a photo appearing in a tabloid with millions in circulation to be NSFW and, honestly, it is.

So what? If the WaPo posted nude pics of Bill would you (a) post them or (b) care?

So with the news coming out of FoxNews, this whole objectifying the women for sexual stuff is really nothing new. Seems to be the MO.

No the problem is you dont even realize why he is criticizing what you are saying or why you are wrong. Stop using Bernie as your reasoning to rip both sides he doesnt prove the points you keep thinking he does.

Well to be fair Jefferson also thought that three story buildings were a sign of the devil.
