Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIX: Escape from the Planet of Debates

Many people are saying he could be hiding contributions to a legal defense fund for Glenn Beck who may or may not have raped and murdered a young girl sometime in 1990.

I have contacts on the ground and you wouldnt BELIEVE what they are telling me it is tremendous!!!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIX: Escape from the Planet of Debates

I swear, you can't make this up:

@anamariecox: Hannity: “My overpaid friends in the media have their chauffeured limousines, they like their fine steakhouses & expensive wine lifestyles.”

@dick_nixon: "Not like Long Island, where we drink Jameson like mother's milk and smack girl's behinds to the 'Piano Man.'"

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIX: Escape from the Planet of Debates

Ho Hum The Liberal Media Keeps Endorsing Clinton...Oh WAIT!

"Since The Arizona Republic began publication in 1890, we have never endorsed a Democrat over a Republican for president. Never. This reflects a deep philosophical appreciation for conservative ideals and Republican principles.

This year is different.

The 2016 Republican candidate is not conservative and he is not qualified.

That’s why, for the first time in our history, The Arizona Republic will support a Democrat for president."

538 has FL starting to move back towards blue. That would help ease my worried mind.

Remarkably little polling being done by NV which right now has a decent shot at being the tipping point state.

Well we're doing some phone banking to NV out here, if that counts!

My understanding is NV is really tough to poll. Its the combination of a high level of non-white voters plus an unusually good Harry Reid led ground game that makes it hard to gauge support. Hispanic turnout is often hard to figure but it doesn't matter if they're either a small amount of the population or if they're in a place like TX or AZ which usually aren't close anyway so any polling miss for them wouldn't really show up.

Regarding Florida, keep an eye on the early vote. If its running close to 2012 levels you can feel pretty good. If its running way behind you can start worrying. ;)

For this reason they should probably not announce early voting totals until Election Day.

Why does early voting track with partisanship, though? Although it certainly helps Democratic voters with three jobs who can't take off half of Election Day to wait in the 4-hour lines created by the GOP governor and legislature, once in place it is just as convenient for fat Republican retirees in leafy suburbs to mail it in instead of having to interrupt their nonstop Fox viewing, crane themselves out of the Grand Canyon-sized perma butt crack in their sofas, and ride their Medicare-subsidized Hoverrounds down to Orval Faubus Memorial Courthouse to vote against those colored "moochers."

On the decline and fall of the American Experiment

http://www.claremont.org/crb/basicpage/after-the-republic/

Ah yes more BS by the Right (dont pretend it isnt the first sentence gives it away) about how America is failing. You are starting to sound like the sports fans who hate an entire league because your team sucks.

It isnt republicanism that is failing...and despite what the Flaggy like article will tell you it isnt the Democratic Party and it sure as hell isnt the Civil Rights Act...it is the ridiculous policies of the Regan/Bush/Dubya years which gave untold billions to a few while indebted the rest of us for all time.

BTW you dont look very level headed putting up an article that accuses the Civil Rights Act (and it appears Civil Rights in general) of destroying religious freedom and forcing people to attend gay weddings. My lord that article is so out of touch it makes your dick nixon tweets look relevant.

"The Reagan years notwithstanding"?

Jesus H. Christ on a Popsicle stick, the Reagan years are how our rush into plutocracy went into hyperdrive.

That's where I stopped reading.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIX: Escape from the Planet of Debates

I recently asked a mentor, who has correctly picked the Presidential winner for the entirely of my life, if they could explain this election cycle to me. They responded:

"Well, one side thinks they're entitled to the job because they've punched their ticket, but a punched ticket doesn't mean you've been effective."

I smirked and said, "What about the other side?"

"Like Mussolini and Kennedy; Joseph Stalin and Gandhi."

My response:

"You'll figure it out."

Well, I think I did just now.

LOL. That's how they think.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure I found Kep's mission and vision statement in there:

America’s constitutional republic had given the American people too much latitude to be who they are, that is: religiously and socially reactionary, ignorant, even pathological, barriers to Progress. Thankfully, an enlightened minority exists with the expertise and the duty to disperse the religious obscurantism, the hypocritical talk of piety, freedom, and equality, which excuses Americans’ racism, sexism, greed, and rape of the environment. As we progressives take up our proper responsibilities, Americans will no longer live politically according to their prejudices; they will be ruled administratively according to scientific knowledge. ...

If trying to persuade irredeemable socio-political inferiors is no more appropriate than arguing with animals, why not just write them off by sticking dismissive names on them? Doing so is less challenging, and makes you feel superior. Why wrestle with the statistical questions implicit in Darwin when you can just dismiss Christians as Bible-thumpers?

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure I found Kep's mission and vision statement in there:

Aren't dismissive names just taking a book from the same "ignorant" folk they're trying to dissuade? The biggest issue I'm seeing is that all parties are trying to fight fire with fire.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIX: Escape from the Planet of Debates

Same source:

Never before has such a large percentage of Americans expressed alienation from their leaders, resentment, even fear. Some two-thirds of Americans believe that elected and appointed officials—plus the courts, the justice system, business leaders, educators—are leading the country in the wrong direction: that they are corrupt, do more harm than good, make us poorer, get us into wars and lose them. Because this majority sees no one in the political mainstream who shares their concerns, because it lacks confidence that the system can be fixed, it is eager to empower whoever might flush the system and its denizens with something like an ungentle enema.

Donald Trump: the ungentle enema.

They don't announce the totals. They either tell you which side requested more ballots or in some cases they'll take a poll.

Regarding why Dems vote early, I'd say its an age thing. Older Americans are used to going on Tuesday in November. Younger ones are looking for convenience. I would suspect as early voting takes hold this will become less of a partisan issue but who knows?

Then the people dont deserve the rights they have. If you would rather screw the system than try and fix it you are the problem not the solution.

Republicans have closed that gap in Iowa. Early votes still trend left but not nearly as much as eight years ago.

The bigger thing to me is organization. When my wife and I voted early four years ago, all mail from the Dems stopped pretty much immediately. The GOP kept wasting money sending us flyers up through election day.
