Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

They must have all had the fish. Airplane! was a long time ago (I was 8 months old when it came out!)

I know some people, like Kepler, are fond of you but I've seen enough to believe that you could be crazy enough to fall for the Clinton conspiracy theories.

Kep is way too trusting of our right wing friends. ;) Joe is probably nuts, but I did get the Ted Striker reference. I was 7 or 8 when Airplane came out but after seeing it whenever it first came on HBO I never forgot it. :D

This is beautiful and exactly what the Dems should be doing - trying Trump to the GOP Congress like an anchor!

Go Senator Warren! Her gift for framing issues has been missing since Bill Clinton was running the show. :D
That's actually a great comparison to Bill -- they both have a feel for how to deliver complex messages clearly and with passion, a rare gift. Reagan (don't laugh) could do it too. Sure, he was a first rate second rate mind and he may have read his ideas in the comics, but he could feel a crowd and adapt to reach them in the head as well as the balls.

If she wasn't so valuable in the Senate I would want her as the Veep. It would also be so galling for Clinton that HER RUSHMORE MOMENT would be completely upstaged by Warren. :)

Dr. Mrs. really, really wants Tom Perez. She knows him and thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced collective bargaining.

Why does the Airplane! reference mean the rest of the post is a joke?

Wow. The way she destroys McConnell is awesome. I love it.

I think that might be the one word that gets him to lose his cool. Being called a fraud. He's way, way too insecure to let that go. Clinton, Warren, and the rest of the DNC needs to start using that term. A lot.

Because the person making the post said it was a joke...

Why do you refuse to take him at his word? It wasn't the greatest joke out there, failing in a few ways, but an unfunny joke is still a joke. Just ask Jay Leno.

I've always thought they should just call him a loser, and point out all the ways he is a loser. He uses it so readily to characterize others it seems obvious it is the thing he is most afraid of being called.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

Merrick Garland isn’t the only judicial nominee that the Republicans are obstructing. As of today, there are 15 nominees for federal District Court seats who have cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee and are waiting for confirmation votes. On Monday, I wanted to go to the Senate floor to request votes for those nominees — but I guess Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell didn’t want to be embarrassed with a video like this one, so Republicans cut me a deal: two other federal judge nominees would be confirmed if I’d keep my mouth shut. I took the deal, and freed those two hostages.

Today, I went back to Senate floor to call for immediate votes on those 15 uncontroversial nominees – and McConnell objected. I asked for 9 judges, and they objected. I asked for 4 judges, and they objected. I asked for just one vote for the nominee who has been waiting the longest – nearly a year – and they objected.

I wish I could say I’m surprised, but Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans have made it their priority to keep court seats empty as long as possible to hamstring President Obama. The American people deserve better than this.

From Elizabeth Warren's Facebook.

If we get the WH and the Senate, in the first hours of the first day of the new session we should rank-order every qualified candidate by the liberalism of their decisions and fill every federal judge vacancy. There are currently 91.

No party should ever be permitted to get away with what the leadership of this Congress did. It's shameful. Both parties have been to blame in the past, but it needs to stop here and now.

If there ever was a proper time or place for levity...this never-ending coffee klatch is one of them.

Eh, I probably misstated my argument. I was going for the fact that Joe's attempts fall flat way more often than not. Whether it's because he lacks any sort of comedic timing or just posts material that isn't funny (or both), I'm not sure.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

Bottom half of the ticket should be?

Dem:
GOP:

------
My thoughts

Since both partly's nominees are from New York, it would behoove both of them to select running mates from as far away from the Northeast as possible - dT moreso.

Should HRC try for somebody from the Southwest? dT should give a long look at Newt, but he's just as polarizing as dT (but smarter politically). So dT will probably look at Ohio, NC,VA, or FL for his VP choice to swing a swing state.

Then again, he could go all in and select Sheriff Joe and get McCained in the general.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

I'm pretty sure none of us qualifies as a comedic genius, so let's let folks do their thing and not be too critical. :)

We actually have a professional stand up comedian who regularly posts to eLynah (when he laughs at a joke I make I am in the clouds for a week -- come on, external reinforcement!!!), but IINM he is not on the Cafe.

I do not understand the willingness to not do your job because the other party is in power. That's why we have elections. Win the ****ing election or shut the **** up.

Don't you know political threads must consist of nothing but butthurt, and that every word of every sentence is serious business? :p

Hillary is not from this state. She only moved there to steal an opportunity in a "safe" place where NYC will love you so long as you put a D next to your name. If a wallbanger like Sean Hannity put a D next to his name, the sheeple down there would vote for him. And because of the way this state works, 54 counties don't matter.

That I couldn't tell you except that everyone who sat next to him on the plane ride killed themselves. Sorta like what happens whenever Flaggy travels... ;)

Flaggy only travels by car. The model year must be 1983 so none of them tracking computers can be found in them. Otherwise the Hindenberg family knows where you are.
