Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

Or you get these small "news outlets" like Alex Jones, Glenn Beck, or pick your favorites from the other political view that claim to really have the story and the truth. They are all agenda and dollars too.

Someone posted a Blaze article on Facebook earlier today about the Orlando shooting and backed it up with "The Blaze is usually pretty accurate."

"Usually". "Pretty". Exactly what I'm looking for in news.

I assume the "major computer cleanup" referred to was simply the DNC asking Bill to stop with the searches on AnastasiaDate.com?

Nah, it was a big file named "HRC_home_email_backups.pst". < ctrl - del >

Edit:
What? Seriously? Nobody gets the file suffix on this one? C'mon ...

Independent news agencies were all in it for the money, too. The only thing that's changed is the name on the paycheck. Newspapers would report what their readers wanted. Local news broadcasts gave their listeners or viewers what they wanted. It just so happens that we used to crave real news, and then something in the public changed. Too many of us wanted fluff and stopped paying attention to the hard news. So the news media adapted to increase circulation, viewership, listeners, etc., depending upon the format. Unless a news agency sets an agenda as an experiment - Fox News with its conservative slant from day one, MSNBC with its liberal slant from day 7,300 - they will all serve their interest of earning money. A news agency not earning money is a news agency on borrowed time.

I have a different take regarding the media. News reporting got crappier and crappier over time, to the point where there's no reason to watch it.

People seem to long for Uncle Walter Kronkite delivering the nightly news. I don't remember him very well, but lets say he was the real deal. Mainstream news nowadays is atrocious. Its easily manipulated, spends too much time giving "both sides do it" arguments, and is filled up with tired hacks who want to be famous but don't want to do any hard work to get there. Are people going and finding news sources that fit their ideology? Sure. However, people would also listen to a reasonable discussion of the day's events if the reporting was at least factual.

So, did the media "create" Donald Trump? No. He represents mainstream conservative GOP thought. He represents the will of the majority of voters on the right. Could they have done more to expose him? Maybe, but the problem lies with one of the two major parties being run by lunatics and lightweights. If any of the other 16 mental midgets in the GOP had any talent they would have taken Trump down long ago.

I was listening to a news feed on the radio today while at my desk. The clip of Obama destroying trump for not using "Islamic terrorism" came on and I almost stood up and said, "Goddam right!" At the end of it.

That was awesome.

Dang. We agree on something twice in a day.

Here's the difference between then and now: I may have been young and naive back then, but I never knew ol' Crankcase was a big-time liberal until years after he left CBS. He reported the information flatly, neutrally, from what I could glean at the time.

The minute Da*n Blather took over two things happened:
- I could see his politics shining through
- The progression to not watching news reporting began for me

News, both print and broadcast, is divided into two eras -- pre-Watergate and post-Watergate. Once it became clear that these guys could be come celebrities, and more importantly rich, it was all over.

The main thing I got from that article is that Roe is a complete true believer and doesn't have a "compromise" bone in his body.

his little talk today was very good.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

Remember when Gore was afraid to ride a successful and charismatic Dem President to the White House because of a beej?No farks Obama isn't even going to give Hillary a chance to do that even if she wanted to.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

RCP doing a good job with their poll aggregates this time around. They still show the (useless) national tally, but they are tracking the purple states and putting the current aggregates on the front page. (Clicking each brings up the trending history.)

Current averages:

NH: Good +6.5 <-- is this really purple at this point?
VA: Good +4.3
PA: Good +4.0
FL: Good +1.6
OH: Good +1.4
------------------
NC: Evil +1.0
GA: Evil +4.2 <-- If this is in play it's long over anyway.

Missing states I'd like to see: FL!!! CO, IA, NV, WI.

There was no need to put that image in my head. *shudder*

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

He's insulted liberals, blacks, women, Mexicans, Asians, and Muslims. OK, maybe he wasn't going to get too many of their votes anyway.

So, who's next?

Republican Donald Trump claimed American troops embezzled untold millions of dollars meant for rebuilding Iraq during wartime and are “living very well” off those funds at a campaign event Tuesday night.

Fascinating discussion with campaign managers/staff of 3 losing candidates talking about the race...

http://highline.huffingtonpost.com/articles/en/sad/

So what I get out of this interview with a bunch of overpaid twats, is that Jeff Roe is in favor of bringing back dueling and caning in the Congressional chambers. A more perfect campaign manager for Cruz couldn't be found.

Isn't that one of the Republican Commandments, after "Thou shall worship at the altar of Reagan", is "Thou shalt not speak ill of the troops"?

I'm thinking it's becoming painfully obvious by now that Trump had no intention of actually winning this thing from the get-go.

He also crapped on Reagan's memory a week ago, saying he'd beat him.

I love the "mole" conspiracy. He really couldn't be harming them more if he tried.
