Re: Campaign 2016 Part XI: the Two Party Problem

Hilly release the transcripts yet??

Yes! Her secret plan to screw the middle class was finally revealed! :D

Following up on another point. I had stated that Warren's work on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was a bigger effort than Sanders has done on any law he got passed during his 25 years in Congress. Kep replied with a list of amendments Sanders filed to other people's bills. Great, but the point still stands. Elizabeth Warren's work on the CFPB was a larger effort on a more significant piece of legislation than anything Sanders has done, and she wasn't even in Congress at the time. Facts are annoying things. ;)

Trump's 538 forecast says he needs at least 58 delegates Tuesday. Right now polling has him around 53%, which if that holds for each district he would get all 95. That +37 would help him gain back what he's lost on his previous targets throughout the month.

Agreed and I don't know why the media is so quick to downplay Trump's chances. A good 85 or so delegates in NY (he could get them all) puts him around 850 in total. He's going to have the next week to himself (PA, MD, RI, DE, etc). If he's within 200 of 1,237 total coming out of April he's in very good shape. NJ is winner take all for 50 so give him those in June. Win CA and he should be able to clinch.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XI: the Two Party Problem

Today's Bernie email.

Last night, while we were holding our largest rally of the campaign, a top Clinton surrogate told a much smaller audience that Hillary Clinton was under attack, and her supporters needed to "stand up and fight back, stand up against those idealists."

Let me tell you something, {Kepler}: there is nothing we have said in this campaign that is pie-in-the-sky, that is utopian. Nothing.

We are the wealthiest country in the history of the world, and we can create an economy where nobody who works 40 hours a week lives in poverty, where health care is a right for all Americans, and where kids of all backgrounds can go to college without crushing debt.

When we launched this campaign, I told everyone they should not underestimate us and that we were running to win. They thought we were pie-in-the-sky then, too. But tomorrow we have a chance to win yet again — in Hillary Clinton’s own backyard. I need you to continue to fight with me.

More GOP Veep material.

Stonehenge, it turns out, was built by giants who were created by Satan.

Lindsay told Bakker that these giants were tools of the devil, who seeks to destroy Israel because “he’s out to destroy God’s creation and his whole plan of redemption and contaminate the human race.”

But Satan wants to “have his own seed and make his own family,” Lindsay explained, and so he created a race of giants who would attack Israel.

“He build his little squatter’s hut up there on the Temple Mount, you know that temple, because he knows what the Bible says about that place,” he said. “I weaved through why and what is the evidence for giant beings on this earth. We all know about Stonehenge, right? That’s just one of hundreds and hundreds of gigantic places around the world that testify that some sort of supernatural power or giants were involved in its construction.”

The complete Looney Tunes cartoon should come pre-loaded on all video devices.

It's infuriating that they are so hard to find.

Edit: actually, they seem to have gotten a lot easier to find since the last time I looked.

As.long as they are in their original form and not sanitized for today's snowflakes, then you have my vote.

Every age has its snowflakes and its PC. When was the last time you saw a major ad campaign with a gay couple or an interracial couple or an atheist?

It's "political correctness" unless it would have made fun of me -- THEN it's just "politneness"! :)

Cheerios had an interracial couple. Adidas had a lesbian couple for Valentine's Day. Of course, the interwebs got angry, but it happened.

Kirk kissed Uhura. The nation did not collapse (though the show did). Who cares?!

But today's generation seems to have excessively thin skins and seem to take offense to everything they disagree with.

---------

So, Kep -- when does Liz interject herself into the campaign? She's been awfully silent.

I think she keeps her powder dry, then works hard for whoever the nominee is, either naturally backing Bernie or making the best of it with Clytemnestra.

Interesting piece about Sanders' historical precursors.

I think the only thing new is lefties flying off the handle. Righties we have always accepted having a hair trigger when you snub one of their golden calves (cops, the military, religion, etc).

It's like the double standard regarding religion in general. A public figure can talk all day about faith, but good god don't let an atheist talk about their philosophy -- the peasants with pitchforks will be out.
