My point is the only way Minny goes red is if it's a 40+ state landslide, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Fun trivia: currently, a candidate can lose 40 states (if you include DC) and still get 270 EV.

Of the top of my head:
California, Texas, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio for sure.
Other four you'd need to win would be...North Carolina, Virginia, Arizona and Georgia?

Also remember, many of the Gore votes in Florida, enough to swing it in the crucial counties, went to Pat Buchanan because of the way the ballot was set up. Why is that always left out when you guys talk about the 2000 election? Oh cause it doesnt follow the talking points...my bad ;)

Because Buchanan votes were not going to Gore. Nader's were or could have been.

We have a Dem Governor because of what that ridiculous excuse for a human being Pawlenty did.

Are you deliberately misreading Handyman's post or misremembering the 2000 Florida ballot issue? Votes that were supposed to go to Gore were counted towards Pat Buchanan due to a failure in the layout of ballots. On the device used by voters, it read as the place where you should punch the vote for Gore, while the tabulating machines had that position marked as a vote for Buchanan. The hitch was that it was only an issue for X% of the ballots, not all of them. It was a big dust up with the butterfly ballot layout, in addition to the now infamous "hanging chads". That's what Handyman was referencing. Gore votes went to Buchanan in the final tally because the courts ruled that election judges weren't allowed to change how the ballot read in order to interpret voter intent, due to that being a highly subjective process.

Why can't other states use the EXACT same ballot Minnesotans have used for decades? It really is a perfect format.

So. you're disputing that if Nader votes had gone to Gore he would have won? Cause that's the premise being discussed here.

Me? No, I'm not saying that at all. I merely explained a portion of what Handyman posted that you either didn't comprehend or, well, whatever you did.

I wouldn't say it's perfect, but it's pretty dammed good. Back when during my senior year of high school (94-95 school year) some of the kids in my class were complaining that their ballots kept rejecting because of "problems with the bubbles." I have to think it was more of a problem with with the kids than the ballots, but it was proof that they're not foolproof.

Florida chose it for a reason...they got what they wanted believe me.

I ignored it cause it was irrelevant to the discussion. It was something no voter had any control over.

I messed around with that map using the 2012 results as a baseline.

The Republicans could flip OH, FL, and VA back to red, and still lose the election. They need OH, FL, and 2 out of 4 of CO, NV, WI, or VA (out of states that I think they could realistically flip).

I'd agree with this. Its going to be the same old neo-con crowd running the show again in a Bush 3rd term. I laughed when I saw an article the other day about how the GOP field wants 2016 to be an election about foreign policy. This from a bunch of people with zero foreign policy experience who want to take us into a ground war in about a half dozen countries, most of which are in the Middle East.

It is as relevant as your BS about state elections that have zero bearing on the general...actually it is MORE relevant because if the voters had just read their ballot then Gore wins. (ya see, they controlled it) All those years we voted for TPaw where did our Electoral Votes go? Just because you dont like facts doesnt make them less relevant Sancho.

I am still waiting for you to put your money where your mouth is...we know you wont though because even you dont believe the sky is falling.

While Jeb straight up stole the election for his dimwitted sibling, that ballot was designed by the Democratic Supervisor of Elections. Her argument was she used both sides so that she could enlarge the names so the olds could read them. In doing so she unwittingly moves about 3500 votes out of Gore's column, ten times the amount he "lost" by. The voter roll purge and other shenanigans probably cost Gore 30k votes -- 100x the amount he lost by. When the GOP steals, they don't think small.
