You want this because you think we'll win 48 states.

I don't think you have considered the Other Possibility.

I'm sorry but how would Trump as President be any different than Cruz/Rubio/Bush/Walker? They all have the exact same positions just without the showmanship.

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

Exactly. IF these people are so brave, go protest a GOP rally as well. I don't get going after Sanders nor POing his supporters who are most likely your biggest allies. This may be non-PC, but a lot of these particular protesters are idiots. Its more about drawing attention to themselves than advancing a cause.

Regarding Trump, this newfound sensitivity to women's issues amuses me. So, female voters aren't supposed to care that every major GOP candidate wants to use govt policy to force them to bear their rapists child, but attack Megan Kelly and OMG its an outrage? Ooookkkaayyyy...

As I said before (and some pundit ripped me off with his own article this weekend) where were these people in the moment blasting Trump to his face on stage? That's right - nowhere to be found. If you can't stand up to a guy wearing a dead raccoon on his head, how are these Republicans going to stand up to ISIS?

Having spent a year in Seattle I can tell you there is a large contingent of people there that resemble the many protestors in the movie PCU. They dont care about the cause or who they **** off, they need to get angry and need to make a spectacle of it.

Trump getting crushed Mondale-style would be the best thing to happen to the Republicans in years. It might actually force them to start a complete re-evaluation of their priorities and leadership.

I agree 100%...but my lord if he wins...

Let's say 30% of the country is absolutely, balls to the wall, smoking crayons level insane. That 30% right there, with nobody else, is probably enough to rack up 100 EV in the Usual Places.

Now let's say 30% of the country doesn't really pay attention to anything but the letter after the name. They don't listen to debates, they don't read position papers, heck, maybe they don't read. Assuming a 50/50 split, that's 15% more, and now you're talking about 200 EV.

You wanna risk everything on that last 69 EV? Cuz I don't.

I couldn't care less about 48 states. I want a real debate on their real values. Dems always have to debate on their real values.

Yup. I'll say again, policy wise, what's the difference between Trump and the rest of them? Either fear any one of them getting elected for don't fear Trump. They're all running on the same platform.

Why, if we have the debate and those policies win then the people get what they want. Sure it will set us back 5 decades but the government is supposed to be representative of the people. If a man stands up and puts forth the "True Believer" platform and wins because of the derp than the country itself is one big derp. If there is more of them than there are of us better to know that now so we can either change it or GTFO.

Then again, I dont think a true believer candidate can get the numbers you seem to think they can. They cant flip a Blue State and the independents arent voting for them because if they did it would have been President Romney not a re-elected Obama. You dont do Scooby's schtick as well as he does so give up the ghost buddy :)

Nothing happens. Congress (either party) thwarts him at every turn. Even rule by fiat gets curbed (which would be a good thing).

That said - No way No how he gets past the primaries. He gets a 4pm speech at the convention.

And we go right back to the establishment candidate with all the lies and deceptions in hopes it gets him elected. The Republican party is a joke.

And HRC over Bernie is not the Dem equivalent?

Way more moderates in the Democratic party. I'd hardly call Obama or Hillary for that matter "establishment". Hillary would in fact be the first woman ever nominated if it happens. I personally don't think it will. I think she's been blowing this campaign since the start.

Republicans haven't nominated a true believer since, Goldwater.

I see president Trump as not necessarily pushing for both social and fiscal conservatism up and down the line. He has his issues (immigration), but we haven't heard him talk abortion, cutting the government, etc. It seems he's primarily pro biz and after that, kind of a wild card. Not saying what kind of condition the country would be in after he's done with it.

1) I think you have rose colored glasses on the Dem field.
2) Yep, and after the daisy commercial it was a slaughter.

I feel that way about Wisconsin. If Walker won twice, yet so did Obama, either people 1) aren't voting in the mid-terms, or 2) are splitting their vote for Prez and Gov. Either way, you get what you elect and if you don't vote you still get what the other people who bothered to vote elect.

Maybe last Presidential election someone was telling me that the GOP can follow the Nixon strategy of running right on the primaries and then left in the general election, apparently not considering that Nixon won his first Presidential race some 40+ years earlier! Obviously times have changed and the further to the right these people get pushed the more they'll get marginalized. Its all on video now, continuously. That first GOP debate was a disaster for the party. If nobody disagrees with Trump on stage, you now own all of his controversial statements.

Hillary and Bernie have been in the party for decades, but they're not establishment? Hillary's been at the forefront of the party ever since her husband took the party nomination in 92. Bernie's been in the party and in Washington for some three decades now. It's nothing but establishment for the D crowd.

1968 also had George Wallace winning the South.

Uh, huh. Rose Colored. After all they voted over 50 times to repeal the Bush Tax Cuts while he was in office. Just like the Obamacare votes. Let's not pretend we don't know which party is psychotic. Do you realize they just had a debate and the front runner wasn't asked a single policy question? Not only that but the front runner wasn't asked about the economy or jobs. You remember those right? The things that the Bone Man has been working on for 8 years.

Let's not pretend which party is a joke. There's tons wrong with the Dems but with no real check from the Republicans the slide into hell becomes more and more real.

I don't think there is anything establishment from a candidate that sits outside the white man power structure.

I wasn't talking about Trump -- Trump isn't reflective of anybody's values but Trump's (Trump's sole value being Trump). I was talking about a True Believer like Cruz or Walker. The quintessence of Republican policy stripped of the avuncular camouflage of a Reagan or Dubya. Straight crazy, no chaser.

I can't see how Trump gets to 270.

Figure he gets most of the usual red state suspects. At least some of the swing states and maybe some red-leaning states will be repulsed enough to flip blue, which is pretty much game over for him. He might grab FL and AZ if GOP turnout is up, but I don't see how he gets CO, OH, VA, WI, etc., and he'll need 'em all. Heck, the Hispanics might be enough to flip TX blue - that would be a laugh and a half over at the Fox News desk.
