Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

"Get the < bleep > out of the way!" is doing something. :D

To your point, people look to government to make them feel safe and if they don't ... ISIS? Ebola? Economy? ... folks don't feel safe and will react.

And a great deal of the reason why people don't feel safe about any of those is the Repub noise machine against Obama, not any factual reason. There's been one death in America from Ebola, how many accidental gunshot deaths in the last week?

Now, can Obama and the Dems be blamed for a pitiful response which makes those Repub noise machine topics take hold in the average uninformed American's consciousness? Certainly.

Alabama passed an amendment against "foreign laws" that infringe on people's rights last night. I'm sure that means same-sex couples will be allowed to get married in Alabama any day now.

In the Alabama State Record it was spelled "furn."

What entities are considered "foreign" to the State of Alabama? That could be a bit ominous in its meaning, and end up in another SCOTUS case.

At first blush I would guess it was directed at international agreements over, say, intellectual property or carbon emissions. Which is stupid, because Supremacy Clause, b1tches!

lol. Alabama.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

The real question is why would any same sex couple want to live in Alabama. Why would anybody with a functioning cerebral cortex want to live in Alabama?

That would be my guess as well. "Rage against the New World Order"...or is it "One World Government"? I can never keep these things straight.

"Foreign laws" was the socially acceptable name when they found out it couldn't be called the Anti-Sharia amendment.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

Because Sharia Law is a big threat in Alabama?

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

It must suck living down south.

Ebola is running rampant.
Sharia Law is creeping into every fabric of society.
ISIS Commandos are flowing over the border like an army of ants.

I'd be afeared too.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

Whoa.

McDonald estimates that just 36.6 percent of Americans eligible to vote did so for the highest office on their ballot. That’s down from 40.9 percent in the previous midterm elections, in 2010, and a steep falloff from 58 percent in 2012.

That's quite a reach IMHO by blaming Reps for them going after Obama. Don't mess up the situation so badly and that gives them nothing to talk about. This whole election was pretty pathetic because the campaign was the Reps pointing at Dems and saying "we're not them so elect us." Pretty sad state for the Dems that it worked quite well.

It just proves how pathetic the Democrats are and always have been. Nothing has changed.

The late Dennis Wolfberg used to joke about the very successful "statewide IQ reduction" program in Alabama.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

You would make a good local party chair. I'm serious -- you know your business. You should get involved; we need more people who have some yarbles.

Flattered but I always thought politically the stupidest thing Obama did early on was turfing Howard Dean because Rahm Emmanuel and some other dinosaurs didn't get along with him. Dean invented the small donor/register new voters instead of competing for the same old one strategy that Obama rode to two victories, but he also knew how to compete state by state. That got lost along the way in mid-terms and in lower level races like state legislatures but they need to return to it.
