Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

Yup, that sounds like how things are. I always thought it'd be a fun thing to do every couple years if election day wasn't a work day or I was eventually retired or something. There is something a little magical about being at the polling place and seeing folks come in and vote, even in today's toxic political environment.

Even now, I get a huge charge out of voting. It really is my favorite day of the year, even in the years like this when I know my guys are going to get devoured.

Like I told my coworkers yesterday: "please vote, though I really don't want any of you to vote." ;)

W.T.F.? I'm not sure the Republicans are the only ones who need a little party introspection (which they certainly do). Sounds like the Democrats could use another confab and put on the agenda as question #1, "Why is it that we can't consistently beat these cretins again?"

Speaking as an independent voter I would say that the problem the Dems have, and have always had is they fear taking a stand on anything. They wont even stand up for the good things they (in theory) are responsible for. They show zero courage of conviction, and if they dont why should anyone else?

Exactly. If even they don't believe in themselves, why should anybody else?

One thing worth emulating about Republicans: 90% of the time they completely believe in themselves, and the other 10% of the time they bluff it out. I think Democrats never really recover from graduate school, where if you say anything with conviction it's regarded as facile and not recognizing the trillion shades of grey that permeate every issue. All well and good... but most people don't go to grad school, and most people want a black and white choice. Republicans, to paraphrase Menken, give it to them, good and hard.

I see where our racist, sack of sh*t AG is sending Justice Department hacks to "monitor" the voting in selected jurisdictions. Among other things, he's promising Americans shouldn't be "intimidated" at the polls. Unless, of course, they're white Americans intimidated by the New Black Panther Party.

Correct. It's amazing how blacks have spent so much time suppressing the vote here in America. We should do something about that.

Here's a story on how they're doing it.

For some reason I thought Holder already got scapegoated out. Did he pass the buck on something recently and hold onto his job?

Serves until replacement confirmed. Since no one has been nominated, it could be a while.

Yeah, you think anyone will be confirmed after Mitch takes over? The lame duck session after the election better get it done or it's not happening.

Nothing is going to happen in the next Congress, so anything that needs to be accomplished has to be accomplished in the lame duck session.

If I were Harry I'd retire the blue slip and anon hold in the first minute and then pass every candidate Obama puts up from Appellate Justice down to dog catcher. It's either that or run two years without any occupant. That's turning out great when it comes to stuff like Surgeon General.

I agree. Ram it through.

Yeah, I was thinking, it's sure nice not having a Surgeon General during this whole ebola thing that's going on.

It's going to be a very exciting night for Gov races, anyway. Check out all the dead heats. FL and PA are especially important (anybody remember 2000?).

BTW, I haven't been following the IL-Gov. How the heck is the Dem not leading by 20 points? Is Coakley running there, too?

Anyone who shows up at a polling place to intimidate voters, Klan, WBC or NBPP should be arrested and prosecuted. But you and that pr*ck Holder view these matters differently. Another ringing endorsement of democracy.

Are we as afraid to vote as we are of Ebola and ISIS? Cause if we are then the turnout should be perfect for the GOP.

Is Opie ever in a good mood? This might be the last successful GOP election he sees in his lifetime and he's on some odd race-driven rant about Eric Holder directing the Black Panthers to intimidate white voters or some nonsense?
