$18.62 trillion in 2016. As always with economics, final numbers are lagged a few years before reporting.

I'm not fully against a small pittance coming from everyone; it's good for the electorate to all have some skin in the game when it comes to government's financial doings. That said, the 1% federal sales tax is only enough to cover about 33% of the federal budget. You can't cut much else for taxes if your aim is to eliminate the deficit.

Property tax covers defense and homeland and transportation etc

User fees like a turnpike :p

Make all income and wealth figures public information. Obscurity is a tool used to protect the 1%. Let the sunshine in.

False dilemma. The more people make the less hard they work for it. Compare a CEO and a trashman.

Based upon whose estimates? According to Hair Furor, he's worth billions. According to Forbes, he's worth a fraction of that.

The people you're targeting don't have asset a specific value. Taxing income is hard enough. Taxing wealth may as well be an effort on part with teach Hair Furor his ABCs.

Actuals don't exist in non-monetized, market-rate assets. People who calculate value may all end up in the same range of figures, but they're rarely going to come in with the same exact numbers. What you're asking isn't possible, and would be fought to death in court.

Those 1% are already taken into the pool with all income taxed at the same rate.

Wealth (property real estate) is taxed. Anything else you buy is cool.

Income (active and passive) taxed the same. Dollar is a dollar

Plus mookie eliminated double taxation arguement with the revenue tax ;)

Foreigners pay tax on their property.

Foreign companies pay tax on their sales revenue

Any country wants to reciprocate, giddy up. Don’t care how you find your govt
