Amazing what happens when you use bureaucracy to force out your competition, like subsidizing $1.46 for every piece of mail.

The problem with the idea that 'government just serves to destroy private enterprise'. Government provides services that private enterprise won't (cheap mail to rural areas, public education to everyone), can't (military) or that is much better because consumers prefer it (secondary education).

Even then, much of the time the government does anything...it buys from private enterprise and unlike everyone else, usually buys American. The government is easily the largest employer, largest customer from private enterprise and largest producer of goods and services and so benefits society in many ways. This is a good thing...because otherwise, we have no security, no air travel, no roads, no productivity (education), and millions would probably be on the streets - resulting in no taxes in even fewer societal benefits yet. Private enterprise makes our lives infinitely better...but with inadequate government you're still living in a third world country.

IMO you want Government and the Private Sector in balance at all times. In the US, we're 20 trillion (the original heist) out of balance. The Republicans just piled on another 13 trillion.

We do want government, private sector and the people to be in balance. I believe they largely are. Cooperation between the three is just as critical. As I've said before, the balance and cooperation between the three here in Minnesota is one reason why the state works so well.

So assume they stole half their net worth: the difference between the 1% controlling 25% and 50% of the world's assets.

That's about $60T.

Seattle used to be owned by Boeing but outgrew them. Same with Youngstown/US Steel, Johnstown/US Steel, Goodyear/Akron.

Atlanta is divided up between Delta and Coke.

Memphis is all but owned by FedEx IINM.

There are lots of mining towns out west that are run by the mining company. Some of those towns are even named after the company and/or the resource mined.

1. We have overlords now, you sad, silly sap. I want to get rid of the overlords. I want people freed from need so they can tell any would-be overlord to f-ck himself.

2. I want private ownership. I just want a salary cap.

3. I want all the good things we can get our hands on. I just think that if the price of allowing someone their 30th house is that 3 million people don't get any house then that price is too high.

4. I'm not eliminating work or income or property. I'm making them non-mandatory to exist. We've already done precisely the same thing in a small and insufficient way with unemployment insurance and welfare and health insurance. I'm just raising the amount to cover a decent existence, and also covering things like education which allow you to grow even more free and, incidentally, more productive.

The thing dupes like Flag will never understand is I loathe the collective and extol individuality more than anybody on the so-called "libertarian" right. I just recognize that allowing a handful of obscenely wealthy individuals their complete freedom curses the vast majority of other individuals to no freedom at all. If you care about personal freedom you should create a dignified floor that all of humanity stands on where they are free enough to take it from there themselves. Only the relentless propaganda of the last several centuries has made weak minds equate that impulse with being against freedom and individuality.
