Re: Business, Economics & Tax Policy 5.0: Can a blind nut find a squirrel?

Is it biologically possible for two biological males to create a child? Is it biologically possible for two biological females to create a child? Take adoption out of the picture, because that's not actually them creating a child.

No, you can't take adoption out of the picture.

The statement was want a family. Adoption creates a wanted family just as much as procreating. There is absolutely no difference.

My sister, who is adopted, is 100% my sister just like my other sister who popped out of my mother. And the adopted sister grew our family just as much as if that sister were adopted by gay parents. And that sister was just as wanted as my other siblings (and hopefully me).

Gay marriage creates wanted families. It doesn't matter how the kids are "created."

Nope.

If it's $X for single it's $2X for married or you're not treating spouses as equal earners with equal pay for equal work rights.

Fine, go to 150 - 300. I think the single needs to be at 150 so I'm willing to raise the couple number if it will make you happy.

Kids still have to come from somewhere. And guess what it takes. What they do with the kid after birth is their prerogative and irrelevant.

Wow, that was quite a bit. Here's what I saw (Never fear Kep, for the current code, I used what's available at cornell.edu):

Not sure how crazy I am about Subtitle D, which basically turns the 1040 into 1040A. I understand something has to give, but I would think you'd want to do what you can to get people to new employment, because it means more income.

Some of this is somewhat dumb, like the rename to "American opportunity tax credit" (are you THAT obsessed with the predecessor?!) and some of the pork found in the 400's; special interests.

The sell was definitely not there, because you're only reducing one page. The 8949, bunch of schedules, and what not, are still there. Most will still need a paid preparer, and so much for writing that off.

Tax basis is definitely going down, in addition to rate changes, but I don't know if that's going to be enough to be able to hire more, especially with most of the inhibition being at the state level.

Unless we see a good fought effort to reduce spending, then similar to what we saw in the 2003 cuts, I fear it's going to end up being neutral after about 4-5 years. The federal government must show some resourcefulness, especially with the bloating of Medicare/Medicaid spending and nothing to balance that out.

Still need a surrogate. A little tough to do with 2 dudes.

There are, quite literally, professional surrogate mothers. It's not nearly as tough as you'd like to believe.

A family is a family regardless of where they come from.

Again, the comment, which was actually said in jest, is about wanting families, not creating them. A gay couple with kids is a wanted family no matter how you try to slice it.

Discriminatory to poly arrangements.

Aw nuts.
The next problem.

Maybe we just treat everyone equally: everyone files as an individual, and pays the same 9%* rate on anything over $50k.
