Remember how shocked we all were when I posted the correction for November...I am no stats guy but what are the chances that all things being equal you could screw up that much not just once but multiple times? That is not an insignificant number either 199k is like 40% of 510k. That is not a simple rounding error.

And fuck the media. Hopefully Zucker resigning from CNN will lead them away from their ridiculous lunacy. (not likely)

Interesting thing is that we also revised DOWN the massive numbers from the summer. So instead of uneven job growth, we've actually been consistently adding jobs at a fairly even pace. So the growth isn't slowing like so many in the media claimed.

Not Horizons but most other programs have ways to prevent that. Horizons will too but it is just in Beta.

Frontier was fine 15 years ago. They used to have their equivalent of economy plus that was still cheaper than other airlines' normal economy fares by a decent chunk. They're complete shiat now.

Not to defend ULCCs, heaven knows I haven't flown them in years, but coach is coach and most people (who only fly once or twice a year) pick the cheapest fare. Also ULCCs do open up air travel to people who may not otherwise be able to afford it, and they can sometimes offer point-to-point service on a mainline jet to smaller regional airports where most of the majors are operating RJs as a spoke to a hub. Of course, that does come with the risk of a cancellation impacting your entire trip due to the way they overbook flights and have lower operating frequencies. It's a risk you take.

When it comes to customer service though, the ULCCs do certainly make a good Delta CSR look like a godsend just by the latter doing their job.

I can admit that I generally don't have the life experience to understand the appeal of the ULCCs or even Southwest or JetBlue. I live in a place where, generally, the only two options are Alaska and Delta, and considering Alaska is one of the best domestic airlines it's pretty foolish to pick anything else.
 
Alaska is not really a realistic option here. This is a Delta hub and they are easily the best airline I have flown on. They are not amazing by any means but even before I was a regular flyer they always treated me well. Customer service is on par with pretty much all customer service out there.

The discount farelines are a joke. Even my super cheap friends have abandoned them cause the experience is just atrocious.

I didn’t mean foolish like “why would you pick anything else?” I meant foolish like “why would I pick anything else?” I can understand that Alaska really isn’t an option if you don’t live on the west coast.

I think the legacy carriers go out of their way to treat frequent passengers in their hub markets better. Alaska Airlines doesn’t even charge checked bag fees to Alaska residents if you’re flying to or from Alaska.

Sounds like Frontier would be the surviving carrier, so you can expect all the frontline Spirit workers to get hosed when they merge the seniority lists.

Meh. Living in a fortress hub isn't so great for trying to find deals. They know that they simply don't have to offer deep discounts most of the time when they're the biggest carrier with the most nonstops at a given airport. Particularly when I've gone overseas, I've often used Delta miles to hop to a highly competitive airport like JFK where I can often score better cash fares or miles redemptions on foreign carriers.

That doesn’t surprise me, Anchorage really isn’t a fortress hub with Alaska and Delta competing though Alaska has way more routes. Plus I think Anchorage is more a leisure travel airport than a business travel airport.
