The news is better, really, considering what has been happening with prices. Overall inflation is still with us, but in many retail categories—particularly ones that end up under the tree—prices have turned lower. Tuesday’s inflation report from the Labor Department showed that toy prices were down 2.8% from a year earlier in November, that sporting goods prices were down 1.8% and that prices for computers, smart home assistants and the like were down 4.6%. Gasoline prices have been falling, too, and leaving Americans with extra cash to spend elsewhere. Exclude gasoline stations, and Thursday’s report showed that retail sales were up 0.6%.

"How the Dow hitting its all-time high is bad news for Democrats."

I believe all the markets are surging which, funny, was the one thing these same media clowns (and average rubes as well) said was proof Donny was doing something right. Meanwhile they keep telling us things are awful, then wonder why everyone thinks things are awful!

It reminds me of a lot of the reporting during the Floyd protests. People heard about the real bad stuff that happened, none of the other stuff, and assumed everything was as bad as the worst things they saw on TV or Twitter. Every liberal city was on fire, every protest was a clash with cops, and every riot was Black people looting and destroying stuff en masse. The media then would keep covering only the worst of it (if it bleeds it leads afterall) and enflaming things ten times more and so no one knew who to trust. (even the citizen journalists were spreading just crazy BS propaganda) I will never forget having conversations with people trying to convince me that places I could see from my house were on fire or destroyed...or that riot cops were being deployed in places spitting distance from my friends houses because all hell was breaking loose and I would call my friends and they would send me pictures of their kids in the exact spots that were supposedly a post apocalyptical nightmare...and no one was around.

I get things are not all rosy...it is going to take me a while to catch up to where I was in 2019. Trump was a boon for a White Male Suburbanite like me. But if he was in office now I would be flat broke because the GOP response to the Pandemic would have cratered an already cratering economy. The reason our markets are strong, our inflation rate is lower than the rest of the western world and why unemployment is damned near non-existent (and wages are rising) is because the Dems decided to put the money back in the hands of the people and invest in Infrastructure. That is boring though...and won't keep things a horserace for 4 years so you gotta make sure to always find a way to report the negative aspect of it. And when that isn't working you hope for a conflict like Russia and Ukraine. And when that doesn't work you pray for something in the Middle East! Islamophobia and Antisemitism will keep those eyes glued to the screens and thinking the world is ending...

I'll admit that I was kind of shocked at the pump today. Regular price was something like $2.89 and with some holiday rewards promotions it came out to $2.72....

That's a number I haven't seen for a while.

Yeah with rewards I paid $2.69 the other day...and that was before the price dropped again.

Next you will start to see groceries drop as well because the price gouging was shut down.

Where are those Biden "I did that," stickers now?

Merry Xmas! Hasbro just laid off 1100 people the week of Xmas, heavily focused on art staff.

yes, just use AI

in case you were worried, the ceo got an 8m bonus
While boosting profits with another tie-in Magic: The Gathering set. Let’s see, they’ve Lord of the Rings, Transformers, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead…

I'll believe it when I see it.

Elon Musk may be held accountable for X (formerly Twitter) devolving into a hellscape. The European Commission on Monday opened multiple investigations into the platform under the bloc’s new social media law.

The Digital Services Act went into effect in Europe in late August. The sweeping new rulebook aims to create safer online environments: Digital platforms are required to prevent and remove posts that contain illegal goods, services, or content. Targeted ads based on sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, or political beliefs are prohibited, and ads targeting children are heavily restricted.

I'm not sure Xitler is even all that exposed if he loses the EU's business. But I don't know; I have no idea how anybody is still on that platform.

Interesting that the Hasbro cuts hit Wizards of the Coast finally. Not a good sign to be laying off employees at the only part of the company that is actually profitable. And it’s not like WOTC employees were overpaid, it’s one of the most notoriously underpaying companies in the Seattle area.

So, my firm's biggest/closest direct competitor announced last week that they're being acquired by Cognizant. A full swallow that theoretically rockets CTS to #2 in the space behind only my previous employer. My reaction to the news and especially the buyer:

I really shouldn't be too smug, but since we already went through an acquisition last year, I feel pretty good about who I chose now.

It's been interesting following the train wreck in real time. A sort of morbid curiosity, I suppose. And yes, a massive waste of time.

EDIT: I'll say this though, no matter how many advertisers I block, Musk seems to have a whole army of third and fourth-tier advertisers ready to try their best to lure you into visiting the Creation Museum, on your next family vacation to East Bumblefartsville, in the State of Bumfck, that you've paid for with Crypto, which you earned by following this bro's advice, which would be FORBIDDEN on social media if you re-elect Dana Democrat!!1!1!!

Paramount should avoid getting embroiled in that cesspool of a corporation.

I’m not saying Paramount is a paragon of good decisions, but it’s not the crapfest that is WB’s head honchos.
