Spending 44 billion dollars on a social media platform just before section 230 is about to be neutered seems like a particularly bad idea. You thought it was difficult to monetize twitter before? Wait until it's nothing but child porn and nazis.

So, Telegram.

And that is exactly what will happen to it. Sad really. But perhaps by going that way it will stop it's utter destruction of society as a whole.

We all know who the oil barons want in power in the US, and it's not the Democrats.

Which is hilarious and self defeating because the oil and gas industry profits best and expands when Dems are at the helm.

Soon as GOP take over, the oil and gas industry gets tight. Every. Single. Time. Going back to Reagan.

I have to wonder if it's cause the industry can make "improvements" under the R's due to little regulation that then come around to bear fruit 4-8 years later under the D term. Short term loss for a larger long term gain.

Doesn't sound like it, but there may be a little overlap?

Side note: The higher prices for oil also mean better chance of re-opening well fields that were shuttered under cheaper times. So production is forecast higher in the US.

Also, the boom during Obama's era was done in spite of the green energy policies Dems pushed under him.

This guy has been a great follow on TikTok to learn the ins-and-outs of the oil and gas industry.

And right as heating season starts. It’s going to be a rough winter for a lot of folks.

Drew, you know there was a solar community in Florida that didn't lose power during Hurricane Ian, right?

But we can't invest in renewables. Too expensive. Picking winners and losers. All that shit.

That's awesome. I am going to search the Internets for that story. Most hopeful thing I've heard all day.

Incredible. Love it.

I posted about that place in the Hurricane thread. Minimal damage. Their school was set up as a shelter despite not having the typically required generator because it never even lost power. Buried all power and utility lines, lots of greenspaces, designed to funnel water away from housing and buildings, etc. Shows what can be done with sustainability and climate change in mind.

Engineering can get shit done if we let it. Very impressed. Very hopeful. Sorry I missed your original post.

Its ridiculous that homes in Florida use anything but solar for domestic hot water. If it works for me(I'd guess 50% of my hot water) it sure the heck will work for close to 100% in Fla. Its easy proven technology that requires a 60 watt pump, some piping and a couple collectors. You don't even have to worry about the piping freezing like I do.
