Business, Economics, and Taxes 2: That's Why We Fight to Take the Means Back

I can't see what can possibly go wrong.
Disney says that it will "thoughtfully and responsibly extend" its storytelling through generative AI use with a $1 billion deal in OpenAI that will license 200 of its characters including Mickey Mouse, Luke Skywalker, Captain America and Elsa.

I am about 99.9999% sure Mark Hamill will not be happy...

As for the Economy...I think I heard unemployment for recent grads is 10% roughly. That is expected to rise next year and Tech wants it higher. In fact they want pretty much want all of us unemployed and aren't even shy about talking about it.

Tech wants it higher for more than ai. They get to pay less for talent if everyone wants a job really badly.

this is why I just no longer give a fuck

Boss makes a dollar
We make a dime
That was a rhyme from a simpler time
Boss makes a billion
We don't make jack
That's why we riot to seize the Means back

Sad people sigh.
Mad people act.
The job now is to convert as many of the former to the latter, as quickly as possible.

Many of us don't give a rats ass anymore cause no one on either side gives a rat's ass about those of us who make enough to not starve, but not enough to go anywhere in life. 14 months ago I was shouted down by most of the forum about how "the economy was doing great!" despite it all being on paper and only for people that already had the means to invest at the top of the economy.

I was one of a small minority that understood that Dump wasn't going to make a difference and probably would make things worse. But that never message never got through on the D side of things. Instead it was all about how great the economy was doing. That's exactly why people bought into the $2 egg and gas BS.

But now that the shoe is on the other foot and the economy is STILL in the shitter for those of us who make $40-70k you expect us to get up and fight tooth and nail?

This is the problem here Kep. No one gives a shit about the middle. No one has successfully been able to message to people like me on the D end. This is why there are a bunch of people voting directly against their own economic interests. They just see what is right in front of them on their grocery recipts. They don't give a flying fuck what the NYSE and NASDAQ do.

Give us a chance to enjoy life and the "American dream" that we were lead to believe was a real thing. We're sick of seeing some "once in a lifetime" crisis shit on our beds every 5-8 years for the past 30.

sometimes I feel like the biggest mistake was not getting married when I was engaged. single income now feels like a death sentence. who am i kidding, i have no income.

went to school, took a decade to pay it off, chose a grad program that was 1/4 cost of MBA, and now I'm beyond fucked. I'm not saying I'm worse off than race or anyone - Im just saying, some of us are beyond beaten and don't have a spouse with a huge income to back us up. Its very, very hard to fight all the time when, as Race put it, what's the point

the idea that the last half of my life may be significantly worse quality than the first half is hard to take.

RaceBoarder,

I made that much (before being fired) and was fine but I have no kids and such. The reason you are shouted down was for a lot of us things weren't that bad and you accused us of privilege. No, I save up to afford stuff. I had two jobs to do it ($70k total for two jobs) and made choices within my means. Not saying you didnt but the issue is context things are different for different people with different circumstances. (Plus it honestly hit everywhere all at once my prices didnt take get bad until the fall)

I get not wanting to fight, and thatvis your choice and one I understand. Understand though making that choice will have consequences too.

Most likely everything collapses so it likely wont be as bad as it could be. That is my only solace...

Race- who wasn’t listening to you? I fully agreed with you, and imho, was something Harris could have really pressed hard on to the thought of “ we are getting inflation more under control, now we need to work getting wages up for the workers to catch back up”. Going that direction may have swayed enough people who have been left behind by both parties. Maybe. But we will never know.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!
Even in his first term, the stock market was always the bellweather for him.
