Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

How did the boys win on an eng in ot with 16 sec left??
Or at least that's what chn claims in their box score

HE box score says it too. Maybe UVM coach thought a tie wouldn't keep them in the hunt for a playoff spot.

According to the UVM thread that's exactly what happened - they pulled their goalie to try to get the two points.

Yup. Bernie and Lenehan identified it on the "radio" stream. Kevin Sneddon knew he had to win out to make the playoffs and decided to take the risk.

I was thinking the same thing. While I hope as much as anyone that this team can catch lightning in a bottle for a second season in a row, it would take a miracle to get past UMass. However, I will say that I think this team can beat any of the other teams in Hockey East IF they play their best games of the season. At this point I am just hoping that we get to the Garden, that Farabee wins HE ROY, and that Harper gets his mojo back in time for next season.

A road sweep would restore a little faith.

Boys win out and get home ice first round....

“Vermont and Boston University close the 2018-19 season series tomorrow night at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:05 p.m. in the annual Green Out the Gut game, presented by Casella. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free neck buff courtesy of Casella.“

...sounds sketchy.... isn’t that what got Krafty Bob in all the hot water???

Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

Didn’t BU pull the goalie in OT against UNH on the last game of the regular season and Van Der Gulik scored and they got the final playoff spot? [/run on sentence]

Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

Last night both Willman and Farance did not dress
In fact we could have dressed one more player
Are they hurt? Does anyone covering the team ever ask the coach about this

Vermont stream is not bad but they lack replay capability

Illness is what I heard. Seems like at least once/season many teams battle the bug.

Pretty certain they didn't. The announcers spoke of the possibility as the game headed to OT. But I believe the goal was early enough that they had not pulled him yet. The video clip is on Sean's YouTube channel.

Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

Was there anything worth replaying? :D

Just Farabee's near goal that they reviewed to see if the goalie's glove was in the net when he swatted the puck away. The refs saw it and concluded no goal, but would have been nice too see.

Yeah, I thought the quality was pretty good. The Play-by-Play guy was good, except that he kept calling Farabee "Fabbro" (and sometimes called him Kotkansalo, but those large numbers on the old-time jerseys can be tough to differentiate 28 from 26, so he gets a pass on that one). The color guy had the UVM slant you would expect (not sure who it was).

Wow, that was all VDG. Boy, he was a good player.

That was a strong senior class two years after that including 3 very skilled players who’s stats were relatively modest but they were fun to watch with DVG, John Laliberte and Brad Zancanaro. Deserved to be in Frozen Four that year.

IIRC, in the #8 over #1 series upset of BC that followed that win over UNH, VDG was injured at some point in Game 1 or 2, and we all thought he wouldn't be able to play in Game 3 at Conte. Then he was out there for the opening draw. It was an early positive sign. I believe Eric Thomassian had the big goal in Game 3.
