Re: BU season thread volume 3.1 cause board/priceless/tippycanoe deleted ours

I know he likely would not be the popular choice on this board (and probably a long shot candidate) but I wonder if Bavis has thrown his hat in the ring?

I was surprised, too, to hear from a knowledgeable source that Greeley is interested in the HC job, especially since he recently applied for the Carolina GM job. (And there are rumors that he turned it down--but why would he do that?).

Because Carolina ownership is a $hit $how.

brady Thachuk comments

1. First-round feedback
Tkachuk said he'd like to be in the NHL next season but did not rule out returning to Boston University for a second season.

"I think it's really too early to decide on that yet," he said. "I believe in myself that after a strong summer and working my hardest this summer I deserve the chance to play in a training camp and hopefully make an NHL roster. But at the end of the day it's what the team wants, and if I feel like I'm not ready it's another year to develop. I'm going to wait and see until the draft, have all the options on the table and talk to my family, my advisor and the team and make a decision from there."

Tkachuk said the coaching change at Boston University would not affect his decision. David Quinn left to become coach of the New York Rangers on May 23. BU has yet to hire his replacement.

"Whoever the new coach is is going to be an awesome coach," Brady said. "We're going to be in good hands."

Brady Tkachuk is a sharp kid. Things look bright going forward whoever the new coach is going to be...

New folks have to start someplace.

that is an understatement LOL

yep. Not sure that GM job in Carolina is suitable for anyone. The owner, a non-hockey guy, has clearly indicated that he wants to be in charge of all key decisions, hockey and otherwise. His treatment of Ron Francis is the antithesis of how you want to build a solid organizational foundation. Good luck, 'Canes.

Re: BU season thread volume 3.1 cause board/priceless/tippycanoe deleted ours

So a bit of time has passed. I'm sure that BU wants to do their due diligence, but also does not want to let too much time go by without an announcement. I would think we would hear something soon... if not tomorrow than next week for sure.

Anyone want to make their final predictions? Correct guesses win nothing but the honor of having correctly guessed.

Against my prior instinct, I'll go with Albie getting the nod.

I've heard finalists have been identified, with an announcement expected by the end of next week as to whom the next HC will be.

I assume finalists being identified means the ones who would go through a full interview process?

I believe so, which I think the President, Provost and other top brass are involved in. Non-BU guy believed to be one of the finalists; other finalists are BU guys.

Not surprising, they probably want to do their due diligence and consider all options. I assume the final decision is made by the AD? President Brown has been, how can I put it respectfully, not paying much attention to the hockey program in his time here.

My official vote if for Albie to become the next head coach. He has put in time and deserves it.

Bastid paid enough to scalp a big sized chunk of frozen four tickets every chance he got

Confirmed in the Herald via Don Sweeney that BU has contacted Pandolfo. Sweeney assumes they've also contacted Sacco.
