There's even talk among some of the NU undergrads about surrounding his house, cutting his landlines, and jamming his email and cellphones, which gives some idea of the esteem in which he is held.
News flash: Next time you watch almost any NHL game, take a good look at who does the talking during timeouts: The AC for offense talks to the forwards and the AC for defense talks to the D. And when the cameras pan to the benches during play, take a good look at who is in the players' ears. It's rarely the HC. Check in on most D1 college teams and you'll see the same thing. (In NU's case, Keefe talks to the forwards and Jason Smith talks to the Dmen.) Not good enough for you?: Look at NFL timeouts and bench shots. The OC runs the offensive TOs and bench, and the DC runs the DC TOs and bench. The HCs have other things to do. (Exhibit A: Bill Belichik) And yes, Madigan darn well does run the program, which is what HCs do.
I highly doubt BC/BU would target Jerry Keefe.
I appreciate the shoutout, but I graduated in 2016.
NEHJ: "Smart money is on Sacco or O'Connell."

I wonder if we could keep Albie on in his current position if BU went with a Sacco, Young or Pandolfo? I wonder if he wants the job right now or if he was thinking it would be a few more years down the road?
If BU doesn't give the job to O'Connell, I'd think that he would take that as an indication that he has to go somewhere and get Head Coaching experience in order to be a stronger candidate next time the job opens up.
Doesnt BU have to go with Albie? He has 14 years of asst. coaching experience, played at BU, on BU staff, unbelievable recruiter. If they pass over Albie no doubt he will hit the road (unless he is content as an asst. coach). Albie stays and recruits are more comfortable with situation I assume. If Albie gets head job and they add a great asst coach that would probably be ideal IMO.

I agree that Albie and Sacco are two most logical choices. One has put in his dues and would provide most continuity. The other has head coaching experience and already working in Boston. Plus, Sacco has money in the bank from that NHL gig already. At this point he might be content with the BU job as his ideal final destination.
Big week for @TerrierHockey. Paul Fenton ('82) named Wild GM Mon. David Quinn ('87) expected to be named NYR coach on Tues.
I read Mike McMahon's handicapping of BU coaching candidates over on College Hockey News. Many BU bluebloods with primarily pro credentials. He also threw out local suspects with Boston connections (Keefe, Pearl really?!) The last name on the list was Rick Bennett from Union.
Don't overlook Bennett. No nonsense assistant under Nate Lehman who won NCAA title for the non-scholarship Dutch. Has dominated ECAC. Massachusetts roots, recruits NE well for Union, Hockey East Providence. Not everyone can go to BU. Hard nosed player who preaches solid two-way physical play while his 'pack of wolves' approach fills the net. Scoring in bunches. Agganis would rock!
Don't over look him. He's not a Terrier but he's the real deal.
