Jack Eichel Scoring

Jack Eichel Scoring

Eichel's 3 assists gives him 43 points on the season and moves him into a tie with David Sacco at 22nd for Terrier rookie scoring and into a tie for 7th with David for Terrier freshman scoring. His 1.72 ppg is currently 17th for rookie scoring and 3rd for freshman scoring (behind Mark Fidler and Dave Silk). His 43 points is the most by a freshman since Tony Amonte had 58 in 1989-90 and his 1.72 ppg is the highest for any top scoring freshman since Mark Fidler had 2.10 ppg in 1977-78.

Sean - I assume the difference between Rookie and Freshman is due to the fact that prior to some pint in the '70s, freshmen did not play on the Varsity. Correct?

Lots of us predicted (or indicated we would be happy with) around 40 points for Eichel. If my calculations are correct, this team has at least 9 games left (worst case scenario). At his current pace, that would give him around 15 more points, for 58. Right in line with Amonte. It has been a treat.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Eichel (#1) and Rodriguez (#3) top three in scoring. Both tied for the NCAA lead in assists with 28. Lofty stuff.

Co-Hobey winners? :)

BU Hockey: In Full "Sucking Each Other's Lollipops" Mode (And if they lose to NU in the 'pot final those pops go back in our pockets.)

25-4-4?????

Possibly but that's not really the issue. Point is they can win games playing less than their best. That's a good thing. I like the idea that Eichel aside they have 10 freshman playing regularly. Most, if not all, of them are giving this team more than you'd expect from 1st year players. Sure they make mistakes, but they have all had solid first years.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

there's no one left on your schedule that can beat youze guys:p

There's no one left that SHOULD beat us...but that's like going through the Patriot's schedule in August game by game and saying "Win, Win, Loss, Win, Win, Win, Loss," etc. Taken as a whole it sounds good, but you know there will be one in there where they most likely trip up. And I'd rather have it happen now instead of in the playoffs...

It is. Here is a link to the current freshman and rookie scoring lists: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k5u2vd8r1htr1fn/FreshmanRookieScoring.xlsx?dl=0

Thanks for posting that link, Sean.

In the late 60s, Jack Kelley often would put together lines that were all from the same class, in part because they'd played together on the freshman team. No freshman eligibility in those days. Herb Wakabayashi (67), Serge Boily (55) and Mickey Gray (48) combined for 170 points in just 31 games as sophomores on a team that lost to Cornell in the 1967 NCAA title game. The trio put on a passing and scoring show during a three-game tournament at Madison Square Garden, leading Red Smith to dub them "The Pinball Line"

The following season, BU's sophomore line of Mike Hyndman (67), Larry Davenport (59) and Dick Toomey (39) rang up 165 points in 32 games.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Has anyone noticed that season tickets holders have not gotten any offers this year for complimentary B-Ball tickets? Not a huge deal, but it was a nice perk.

I thought every season ticket holder got a booklet of offers that included a coupon for tickets to a men's bb game, a women's bb game and a women's hockey game.

Interesting, I never received mine this year if that is the case.

Last year in addition to that, they did send out emails for 3 or 4 of the games also offering free tickets.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Mookie hasn't received a booklet.

Mookie also hasn't received emails with offers

Mookie has heard that premium ticket holders get emails alerting them to stuff like autograph sessions -- but again Mookie doesn't get those for whatever reason.

You had to pick the booklet up at the arena. They made announcements on the jumbotron early in the year about it.
