Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

The key was maine scored three times more than they gave up. avg 6.75 per game for 2.3 vs

now they score 3.75 and give up 2+

They could score and play D

what you have here is their hea avg. are you able to get the entire season?

i can't find team season shooting pct for & against. also can't find total shots for v. against for the season either.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

great team. trivia, how many US players??

Only a handful. Jack Kelley rebuilt the program primarily with Canadians as BC and Harvard monopolized the locals. But there were several key Americans. Both goalies--Tim Regan from Rhode Island (US Olympics '72) and Dan Brady from Canton, NY. Toot Cahoon from Marblehead and KUA skated on the top line. Steve Dolloff, who later became an All-American, Bob Murray, now an attorney and player agent (for Tkachuk and many other NHLers) was part of a four-man defensive rotation. Defenseman Peter Yetten, who was the longtime football coach at Bentley. A few others. Oh, and one Frenchman.

Kelley was finally inducted into the Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame last month. Considering his achievements as a player, coach and exec, that was long overdue.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Kariya was a treat to watch, and in any era would have led the NCAA in scoring. I just don't think he would have scored 100. I think he had something like 11 or 13 points in their first two games against UAB or one of those types of teams. I was honestly somewhat disappointed with Kariya's NHL career. I know he had concussion issues, but I thought he would still dominate at that level. That Maine team had so much talent, with the Ferraro's, Montgomery, Ingraham, Snow, Dunham, Imes. The talent that came through Orono from the late 80's to that team was phenomenal. Jean-Yves Roy, Mario Thyer, Robitaille, Downey....

Since it has been a while, have to bring up the satisfying sweep of Maine at WBA in the HE playoffs in 93-94. Maine was, what, the second best team in HE based on their on-ice record (maybe third), BU finished first. Maine has to forfeit all their wins for one of their violations, drops to 8th, and is barred by the conference from playing in the playoffs. Walsh gets an injunction so they can play, Maine comes down with their band, plus the Ferraro's back fresh from the Olympics, and BU dispatches them in two games.

As much as I'm enjoying this trip down Black Bear Memory Lane... BU has two hockey games vs. a ranked opponent this weekend. A ranked opponent full of 24 year old tree's like Dartmouth. Match the grit or beat 'em with speed? Any word on Olsson's injury?

Have to admit that is better than I thought. Maybe those 5 Upper Deck Canada WJC (Czech version) rookie cards that are in my closet are actually worth something now :D:D

Anyone know if the game at Merrimack is sold out?

Mario never had 200/ Did have 199 once, never 200

By coming back blew the "only player ever to avg two pts a game"
