BU season thread 4 - 2014-15 // destiny's children

Word spreads quick!

Logic would tell us that Quinn et al were not overly concerned about losing him. Best of luck to him. I agree the comment about academics likely does not make much sense. Air Force Academy is a good place to be I'm sure.

I obviously don't know or care about his actual performance in the classroom. I was only commenting on what he wrote about his opinions toward classes and school in general on his Twitter feed.

Gotcha... I didn't read down that far.

I scanned further down because I was looking to figure out why he de-committed from BU. I couldn't find any news articles about it. I saw a few tweets about him verbaling to BU and he seemed to be excited. Then something about having six months until he started college. And absolutely nothing about leaving BU and going with Air Force. It makes sense if he wants a bigger role then he was going to get at BU and felt kinda put off that we were asking him to delay a year and all that. A few of his tweets put me off but young people and their Twitter, whatever.

BU staff de-committed Starrett. He was not too pleased but his stock dropped and BU staff moved on.

Nah, david quinn would never do such a thing!

Hey mook looks like kevin hayes buried your penguins

wasn't like he was being prevented from doing so.... all six pens on the ice were in a position to breath on him too. so glad they are going out in 5 to keep mario from getting another payday (b's should have had that 8 spot instead of them).

Maybe dumoulin should have been on him instead of paul martin ;)

Can't imagine Maguire being cleared to play and LaCouvee showing up helped the process.

FWIW, BU had some concerns about Starrett since early in the season. In addition to playing for SSK this season, he worked regularly with Mike Geragosian, who has his own goalie school. It appears that BU had to decided between Maguire and Starrett as carrying three scholarship goalies is unlikely. Good luck to him in Colorado Springs and on that beautiful campus.

Since we are being completely honest, the player was looking to go to an ivy or air force well before the start of the season. BU was a safety school in the families and players eyes. Education and hockey in that order. If he could have gotten into either earlier he would have. Had been working with a private ivy sat tutor for the past year+ with one goal, not to go to BU. Is that a fact, yes it is. If he had wanted to, he would be there. As soon as he hit the magic number on sat test, bye.... Not saying NU isn't better hockey as it is, but some people get the fact that 99% wont play nhl and if you are good, especially a goalie it does not matter where you play.

The Rangers ceremony with the Broadway Hat...

How many years now?

Only during the playoffs? Or all season?

Previous winner decides next recipient?

Do any other teams have a similar tradition?

Bruins had their jacket ceremony, not sure if it's the same/similar (?)

Calgary does it with a fireman hat and detroit uses a shovel. Seems like all teams have their own thing.

They've been doing it for several years with that hat that looks like something Toe Blake would've worn.

The Caps have a stove pipe hat and fake beard to look like Abe.
