Re: BU season thread 4 - 2014-15 // destiny's children

what did the GM say that was wrong? Their fans lost the number one draft pick and you want them to cheer? Only at BU would people think like that. The number one pick is a great honor, lets them have a blast at the draft, ton of buzz around the draft, trade rumors etc.
I think it is more arrogant yo act like he is the auto 2nd pick. Is that disrespectful to NH?

2 and 3 are a lot closer than 1 + 2. A lot closer.

It is not 1 A and 1 B. It is 1 , big gap than 2-6

Pretty clear who Edmonton is going to take, just like it was with Sabres, Arizona, Toronto and every other tesm. Every one of which who would have been disapointed if they lost first pick and rightly so.

Eichel and Hanifin will be special, McDavid is generational. Less of a differnce with JE vs Marner than CM vs JE

Hoky, the distinction for me is clearly the position in regard to eichel and hanifin. Tough to compare other than i feel franchise forwards are valued more than dmen. Not saying that is right or wrong but that's the sense i get when the draft rolls around.

you win from the net out. not sure if i agree with f's being valued more. stamkos ten times more coveted when he was 1st pick and they cant win. give them lindstrom anf they win. JE is a very high end player. McDavid whole other level. Not one GM even weighing the choice.

The Buffalo GM whining about the draft system like that after the fact when he knew beforehand that this result was an 80% probability smacks of unprofessionalism at the very least. Doesn't reflect well on him or the Sabres. Every reputable NHL analyst has put Eichel at two and mentioned him as a second to McDavid. None have said that 2 and 3 are closer than 1 and 2. You are free to have that as your opinion. In fact, given your biases against BU, I am not surprised by it. But don't make it out like it is a mainstream opinion. In fact, I have seen a few mock drafts that put Strome at 3 and Hanifin at 4. I haven't seen Eichel anywhere but 2.

Well then, since Eichel is not that good I guess he should return to BU next season.

just because he is not at same level as CM does not mean he is nit a very, very good player. He is.++ An American kid top 2 or 3 in draft is amazing. Him and NH are blue chippers+
CM is generational. Who was drafted after Stamkos? Who cares according to the GM's. Same difference in the hockeyworld outside Comm Ave.

there is not one team, not one gm and not one fan in the world who would not be disapointed in losing out on top pick. are the sabres fans classless? their blogs have exploded with disapointment.
top pick is fun for team/fans. not disrespect, not at all. More arrogant to think otherwise.
I am sure they will love JE if they dont trade the pick.

Bruins fans would be exactly the same and disapointed, as would Neely, Sweeny et all

On gap between mcdavid/eichel and eichel/hanifin...i just think that part of it is apples and oranges because hanifin is a dman. I haven't heard any talk about this anyway. The talk has simply been about how mcdavid is clear #1. All mcdavid all the time. Just a shame he's going to edmonton.

Didn't Eric Lindros refuse to go where he was drafted or something? Would be comical to see something like that happen again.

Murray's comments last night were borderline creepy. I'm sure he didn't realize it, but they were inappropriate. The whole draft lottery presentation was just odd. What would have happened if the Bruins won it? It was the first envelope. It would've been so terribly anticlimatic. Was that the first time they did it that way?

I have had the pleasure of watching McDavid play 3 times and let me say that he is the best player that I've seen in the OHL since Eric Lindros. Now granted I haven't seen Eichel play other than on T.V. but I think there is a reason why McDavid is the consensus number one pick and that scouts are calling him generational. I do feel for Buffalo as clearly they coveted McDavid with good reason. The fact that Edmonton won yet another draft lottery is nauseating. Still Buffalo will at least have a great consolation prize in Eichel .

exactly. McDavid and than the rest. I will say it again, Marner is closer to 2/3/4 than 2/3/4 are to 1

Re: BU season thread 4 - 2014-15 // destiny's children

Does anyone here know what Hoky's thoughts are in re: McDavid, Eichel, Hanafin et all and the draft? I'm not quite sure and was hoping somebody could clear it up for me.

Thanks in advance.

They are all decent hockey players, but a tier behind vecchione;)

There's still rumors of a Gillette game vs BC as part of Winter Classic, I assume that'd be a conference game. Very strong and interesting OOC schedule on the docket.

If this is a conference game, I sure hope we are not giving up our home game for it.

oh don't worry BC has only given up 3 home games for frozen fenway so I'm sure one more wouldn't be a problem.

in all seriousness, if it is going to be bc/bu at gillette, and why not milk every single possible penny from something, with only 22 conf games there should be room in ooc

Re: BU season thread 4 - 2014-15 // destiny's children

There will be a playoff game there. Timing can only allow that single NHL game.

Re: BU season thread 4 - 2014-15 // destiny's children

It was a true celebration of an amazing season. Nothing somber about it. Some emotional and heartfelt speeches by players who won awards. Eichel especially, when he went up to get his MVP Award. All the hardware was there. Fun to hear Grizz officially announce he was coming back next season.

Wisconsin and Michigan are coming to Agganis in the Fall. Other than the regular season at Notre Dame, the furthest BU is traveling is NYC for Red Hot Hockey.

Thanks for the notes. :)
