When I said Lowell, I didn't mean a November game. I meant the Hockey East championship game. Or even the Beanpot championship game

I already answered you. Nerves. Forget the Hockey East Championship game. BU 2as the only one of the 4 schools that didn't HAVE TO win that tournament to get to the NCAA's
. There is NO comparison. This is unique

Re: BU season thread 4 - 2014-15 // destiny's children

Gillies let in a softy too but early in the first, so different circumstances. But from what i have seen of o'connor this tourney it's not even the bad goals. Even if tou take those out he looked shaky.

than just say it like it is. with title on the line the better team stepped up and ran them out of the building
enough with the Paul Kariya JE comparisons.

When it counted, Kariya as a true freshmen put up 100 points and carried team back in third in natl champ gm, when they were down 4-2 after 2, ended up winning 5-4. All 3 goals came from Kariya to Monty. Against two time defending natl champs and an amazing D corp

You have zero credibility anywhere in the hockey universe and just proved it again. The team that "wasn't in the mix" the NC was 8 minutes and a bad goalie play away from winning it. And further showing your shallow knowledge of hockey history Kariya played in an era when goals were a lot easier to come by and I believe his NC was an OT final ie semi final . Dunce

Agreed he was petrified of the puck all tournament.

Ran them out of the building?

And let us not count exhibition game points just to give kariya 100 pts :p

its all relative *******. all teams played vs same goalies

bad goalie play? focus more on the dman pinch and F flying out before they had posession. that had every bit as much to BU losing natl champ

but than again, they scored two fluke goals from sidewall. would have been 4-1 without.

Are you removing "fluke" bu goals yet including "fluke" pc goals in your total :p

You are a block head. Eichel didn't play against those "same bad goalies "
you were comparing Eichel to Kariya not Kariya to players of his era . Your lack of hockey knowledge is only surpassed by your general lack of intelligence .

of course mookie, how else do you get fools like Jofa to bite and show their ignorance

"goalies were not as good in 90's."
they Also had garbage skates, crap sticks that weighed 40 lbs and no where near the focus on individual skill like they do now.
Tom Barraso would have been stud in 90 and still would be today.

Ah, the anger/depression stage. So human! So necessary! Soon it'll be the acceptance stage. That's when Stanley Tucci will make us scrambled eggs to make us feel better.

Putting Jon Gillies and Zane McIntyre in the same category as those Kariya played against is patently laughable. Gillies may end up supplanting Quick as the best goalie to come out of Hockey East in the last decade or two. He's got NHL stalwart written all over him.

Compare how goalies looked when kariya played in hockey east and also style of play difference. Much more defensive game now with enormous goalies/goalie equipment.

Not saying eichel is better, just don't like the comparison to begin with.

Garth snow was ok, but even jimmy Howard was better. And quick and Gilles are better still.
Training and technique are miles ahead of what kariya faded.

Now kariya would still be a hobey winner today, but they faced goalies that were not close to what we see today

Kariya was a better skater, after that I don't see alot of difference. Both can/could make that pass that you can't figure out how it gets there. Both can shoot the puck but look to pass. Eichel is bigger but not any more physical. Most Maine fans think it's a joke to compare the 2. I dont, eichel is good

Eichel needs to work on his scoring touch. He makes moves and skates past people like they are traffic cones---then airmails the shot or fires wide 80% of the time. The goals he scored are open net or tipped more often than not.
I can see him putting up Joe Thornton numbers where he has 60 assists and 18 goals
