BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

Parker has to have the league help him out to win games? Shoot, and just when I thought it was our clever chants that won us games...

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

What the **** happened to this nice little RPI-BU thread!!!?? :eek

BC Hockey: Holiday Hate

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

Not sure if KnowItAll is a BC fan, but what happened at the end of the game is hard to ignore, no? Especially when you finally see refs and a media member step up to the plate.

no offense, but the media member is rather irrelevant. he was doing his job, he took the side of the hometown team. it'd be akin to dan shaughnessy writing an article blasting they yankees, it's what you expect.

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

No offense taken by me, but I bet there would be by the writer. I had never heard of him until this, but by all accounts he's pretty well respected and regarded as a very good college hockey writer.

What accounts were these? And how many hundreds of more accounts of Parker being a "well respected and very good" college coach are there?

People on here, other people who have read his stuff, from what I've been able to gather...

Parker is well respected as a coach because he's won a lot of games...pretty simple. That shouldn't exclude him from being criticized for his tired, old antics.

And did he win those games because he is "very good" and which therefore lead to him being "respected" much more so than the writer whose feelings you are worried about? And trust me I do not think he is above criticism. In fact I was the first to criticize his behavior post-game.

I'm a little confused here...did I ever say he wasn't a very good hockey coach?

You responded to half the post in agreement and ignored the other half, I guess I translated the omission incorrectly.

I do find the whole thing curious when you're telling BU fans not to get defensive about their coach who have witnessed a huge body of his work while you are defending a media member you could barely tell from a cardboard cutout of Bob Norton by playing the ethos card based on a handful of posters you haven't read 12 posts from, and unspecified other people.

Well, I was specifically talking to one individual poster, but anyway...

Look, I've seen a ton of BU games over the years and read a lot of recaps, etc. I am not an outsider. I personally don't like his antics and know a lot of people feel the same way. I fully expect BU fans to defend him, that's fine. If I've gotten on anyone for defending him, I apologize. My point was specifically to one poster to not then get on the people who don't like him. And just because I didn't know the writer prior to this, doesn't mean he isn't a well respected writer, does it? He has his opinion just like anyone else and I happen to agree with it.

Nope, he could be a tremendous writer, but also you posting here under the name JD doesn't mean you're really not Terrell Owens, and even if a poster or two says you are I'm not going to defend you if someone else says your not.

Besides that everything else you said was reasonable, I'll let this rest now.

Not really sure where you're going with the TO reference

Fair enough though, just giving my honest opinion on what happened and what I've seen happen.

How about... it's akin to a fanboy defending the actions of their crazy coach?

What accounts were these? And how many hundreds of more accounts of Parker being a "well respected and very good" college coach are there?

I'm not here to debate what people do or don't think or Parker. But let me add that you're way way way off base if you don't believe that Ken Schott is one of the best college hockey writers in the entire country.

You BU fanboys crack me up.

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

How many coaches have been seen throwing bottles on the ice to protest a refs call? How many coaches have been seen with a headset in the walkway to stay in contact with the bench after being kicked out of a game? This is also the guy who kicked a player off his team because he reminded him of Craig Janney. (and this is just the on ice stuff. Clearly he has shown to be classless off the ice as well).

A lot.

How many coaches have been seen with a headset in the walkway to stay in contact with the bench after being kicked out of a game?

Quite a few.

This is also the guy who kicked a player off his team because he reminded him of Craig Janney.

Please provide evidence.

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

FL, people can ask you to provide evidence as well. Since you said "a lot" of coaches have thrown water bottles on the ice, let's rephrase it. How many college hockey coaches, since that's what we're really talking about here. Please provide a list. Thanks.

Also, please provide a list of college hockey coaches who have been caught red handed during a league suspension? Didn't Parker do this in the late 90s? Received a one game suspension (shocker) and then was still present at the next game? Or something like this? This evidence game is easy to play. But as I've said, I expect all BU fans and I guess now even "unbiased" media members to defend him at all costs.

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/11/10

And who could forget ole JackPa "eating his ham sandwich" while he conveniently watched a Harvard practice prior to an NCAA tourney meeting...pretty sure he wasn't supposed to be there.

He's proven to be a great college hockey coach and might be a great guy away from the rink...I'll just leave it at that.
