BU offseason thread - this begs some questions!

Re: BU offseason thread - this begs some questions!

I'm assuming women in 18/19 & men in 19/20??

I wouldn't go that far, there's not a lot of support for HC on the men's side right now, primarily due to venue. They've offered to play at the DCU Center, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too big for them and their on-campus rink is much too small by HE standards. Not to mention the program isn't good.

Merrimack?

And if HC is in HEA, BC will have to play them, renewing one of the great college rivalries of my youth.

Uconn?

An established major athletic brand name. When was the last time HC got more than 2,500 people to show up for anything that wasn't a football game? They tried playing games at DCU recently and failed miserably.

Bowers named to Team Canada roster--one of two NCAA players-- for World Junior Summer Showcase. Five Terriers (Tkachuk, Cockerill, Farrance, Farabee and Wise) on US roster. LINK

Re: BU offseason thread - this begs some questions!

worst home schedule in many years
17 games- 2 exhibitions-2 vs Arizona State
No games against Big Ten or NCHC teams

Re: BU offseason thread - this begs some questions!

so ooc are

@ Mankato
@ Mankato
v. union/ylae in Ireland
v. Dartmouth
@ Harvard
v. QU
v. NU beanpot
v. beanpot (3rd place game)
v. ASU
v. ASU

the hea games breakdown as

3gms -
UConn (1-1-1)
mack (2h-1a)
pc (1h-2a)
umo (2h-1a)

2gms-
nu (a/h)
uhn (a/h)
bc (h/a)
umlol (h/a)
uma (h/a)
uvm (a/a)

therefore - 3g series bu is 6-5-1 (h-a-n)
and in the 2g series bu is 5-7-0 (h-a-n)

so our game in Ireland is giving up a home game? whatthefruck

BU's Hockey East rotating schedule has a quirk. Most teams in Hockey East have 8 home and home series, 2 games either at or vs. Maine, and 2 games at or vs. Vermont, for an even total of 10 home games and 10 road games. Then 2 home games and 2 road games are added to make the final 24 game schedule.

BU has the same setup, but it looks weird because the third game is against Maine in the opposite location as the two game series. So the schedule is:

Home and home with everyone except Maine and Vermont.
Two games vs. Maine
Two games at Vermont

Then the four bonus games are:
At. Providence
Vs. Merrimack
Vs. UConn <- this game went to Belfast
At. Maine

So even though your breakdown looks like BU got their two "third games" at home and lost a home game from the base 2 game sets, they're actually playing a balanced schedule against everybody they should be during their default 20 games and conceding a third game for Belfast.

I know that all seemed like unimportant semantics, but it's actually a really necessary distinction, because if BU's base 2-game sets against everybody else weren't balanced 10-10 it would have to unbalance somebody else in the process and break the entire conference schedule.

Of the 10 team's one plays in conference, 4 have 3 games and 6 have 2

The 3 games have to be off since you can't divide 3 equally :(

So two sets are 2h/1a and the other 2 are 1h/2a

Bu lost a home game

----you drove six circles around an easy explanation :)
