BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Early in the third period last night, this thought occurred to me: Imagine if told you at the start of OT of the second MSU game, that 5 months later, BU would be in a tie game vs. the last place team in HE with their season on the line? At Agganis. In front of 1,500 fans. I mean.... Talk about a massive plunge.

Macklin was indeed in the house. He was kind enough to take a selfie with my 16 year old daughter. She was over the moon.

I'm glad they lost to Lowell. I enjoyed finishing the season with a W (Even though they, yet again, played a shit second period.) I enjoyed one last spin in the home barn before we reconvene in October with a skeptical eye and hope in our heart.

It will be damn interesting to see if #9 plays on Saturday afternoon.

I don't see how he comes back. Pandolfo didn't want to talk about it and when he said he didn't want to discuss it further, there seemed to be some disdain in his voice. Certainly angry about something. I'm not sure what he meant when he said not necessarily a healthy scratch, just not available. It definitely seems like there was something wrong, not something like a death in the family or something like that.

Glad your daughter met Macklin. Seems like a good guy.

This team continues to go for the difficult pass near the net when the puck carrier is 1on 1 with the goalie in close. Driving me crazy…
Thank you I am sick of screaming at the TV thinking I am the only one noticing this. Happened at Lowell several times and last night at least twice. Once with Eiserman the sniper passing up the one on one with the goalie and the other one in the third period down the right wing (maybe McLaughlin).

Just watched it - who knows what to read into it but Jay clearly didn't want to talk about it. If i had to guess (with zero inside knowledge), I'd guess he does not come back.

The Eiserman example was particularly egregious. I'm like, "Dude! We have like one other forward who can score, SHOOT THE FUCKING PUCK! It's your ONE job!" 😁 😎

Let’s hope the early Saturday game negatively impacts the favored, home team that hasn’t played a mid-week game. In BU’s favor, at least it’s not a Friday-night game.

In a perfect world the answer of “dont make mistakes, play simple hockey and then your talent takes over” would include a mention of working hard…the mindset of “then your talent takes over” could run smack into the other team’s “then guts and grit take over” mentality.

Macklin, Lane, Leonard and a few other HE guys were good enough to win a game on talent but every team/player in HE is good and they have too much heart and pride to just be “out-talented” at crunch time.

Are you suggesting Pandolfo benched Boisvert based on not putting in effort?

I'm a Blackhawks fan (I grew up north of Chicago.) Blackhawks Twitter is alluding to a bigger story here. Here's the quote: "There's a story here in regards to Boisvert's season at BU, if anyone want to investigate. The #Blackhawks would surely not appreciate it, if you do." Hmmmmm.

I know, I know. I'm just stirring up shit. But isn't that why the internet was invented? 🙃

Not to mention that Macklin and Lane worked pretty hard.

No, there is a difference between a preference for a game time (some don’t like Saturday afternoon 1pm games) and not being able to make it to a game on time because of work/traffic. Especially when no one here can come up with a good reason for making the game at 6:30 vs 7pm. I don’t understand why you’re so riled up about it. Unless you moonlight as a Hockey East schedule maker. 😎
I'm not the one riled up about it. I was trying to make a point. You were the one complaining about the start time of last night's game because it didn't fit YOUR schedule. And then you tried to coach it as "I guess they don't want revenue." Of course they do. But the arena nor the hockey program did not have a say in when the game was going to be played. Given how the overall schedule was determined for the year, the season ended last Saturday and the opening round of the HE playoffs happened to fall on the Wednesday of BU's Spring Break. And Hockey East scheduled one of the three games at 6:30 and lo and behold that game was the BU-UVM one. Who knows why they picked our game as the 6:30 game but I believe there is always one game at that time. Seriously, was 30 minutes that big of a deal? I would understand being up in arms if they scheduled it at 4:00pm. If getting there was going to be that difficult, then don't go. Which many people did not. Did you buy the ticket before knowing the game time? If not, then what's your beef? Every year there are attendance issues for the QF rounds because they're played during break. BU isn't going to change their break for one hockey game. That crowd didn't seem any smaller than crowds previous years over break. If the game was at 7:00, I do not see that much of a bump in attendance at all.

And my post was sarcastic. I don't care when Saturday's game is played. I would have preferred it to be later in the day especially if I was going. It's a bit of a ride to get there but that's when they play so that's when I would go, if I was going.

I lived in Illinois for 6 years, my college roommates are all from the Chicago area and my phone was blowing up during the game - where's Boisvert? Are you suggesting the Blackhawks and Jay weren't exactly on the same page and that might be part of this? He was never ever the best player on the ice IMHO like Eichel, McAvoy, Lane H., Macklin and some BC players I won't name (but I will name Johnny Gaudreau). I think it was expected he would be the best player on the ice but I'm not sure which side expected that.

I think my son and I walked past you while you were taking that picture. He seemed like such a nice kid and I also saw him sign a young fan’s Sharks jersey.
Attendance was so bad I was counting individual people in the sections. Section 110 had 22 people in it during the first period.

The tweet suggests there was some bad behavior behind the scenes. That's what I read from that tweet.

I think the shoulder injury was a bigger deal than we realized. And in retrospect, he probably should have stayed out the entire first semester. He's been disappointing the entire season. Week on the puck, shots right into the goalie or wide of the goal. Very little playmaking ability. No physical presence.

Perhaps the truth will all come out at 5pm Saturday. We shall see.

Wow. Are you sure you're not riled up? 😉 Over a comment about a game time that you disagreed with. For a conversation that was over until you came back after the game with a snide, sarcastic post that didn't even make sense given the very different scenario. I had stopped caring about the 6:30 after seeing the several hundred in the arena at game time. I'm done with it.

OK, well almost done.... I did want to check one thing you wrote above, about thinking that there is always one 6:30pm game for the first round. I went back the 4 past years that we have had this format. (COVID & a different format before that) There has never been a game before 7pm in the first round. Interestingly, there was a 7:15pm game at Northeastern a couple years ago,

Now, I'm done. Please don't be mad at me, Scarlet. Go BU! :)

I am thinking the same about Eiserman's injury. He was on fire to start the season. Then he was "off" for quite a long time until these last 7 or 8 games where he seems to have his mojo back again.

This team had some big issues stemming from the roster make up with little upperclassmen. They also just got some bad breaks all year as well.
