BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Sooo, here's hoping the team is not paying attention to other games around the league. Both Michigan State and WMU lost last night. Not sure if both are playing tonight as well (assuming they are) but if somehow BU manages to win both games against Colgate this weekend, should we expect them to be ranked #1? Which will mean they will probably play like crap against Michigan State next weekend....OK, stopping now. Focus is back on tonight's game and tonight's game only.

I do that too. But I don't have to tell you, rankings this early are usually a mirage. They probably will be #1 come Monday ... just because. And then lose two to Michigan State. I'll be more anxious come January when power rankings start to harden a bit.

Looking really solid tonight after 2. Just need to tighten up a bit defensively to finish. They got a little loose those last few minutes of the second after they made it 4-0 (although they still had some great chances as well). Much improved 5 on 5.

Better play in the second. I said many times last season this team does not play well before 7:00pm. Eiserman ties it up, I look at the time - 7:02. 😀

A shame that we were offsides on that last goal. I was really hoping this would be the minimum result for next weekend. Great job killing penalties though. Hopefully that continues. Special teams should be a huge plus for this season.

Anyone thinking Cole Eiserman as a great Hobey candidate right now? He seems to have stepped up his puck carrying speed and skills - that’s going to be huge with his ability to shoot the puck. Let’s see how he performs against the big boys and goalies next weekend.

I wasn't there, though I watched the last 10 of the third and the OT/shoot-out on my phone at my daughter's NESBA competition. (Don't worry, I was focused on the field during the Wakefield Marching Band's show and the BU bands show. :) 🥁) I truly hate the reviewable off-sides replay crap. They looked at it for 7 minutes. Replay review was not created to circumcise the mosquito. If the ref doesn't see it in real time, let it roll. #RantOver

Based on Jay's postgame (he was PISSED), it appears that this team is young and unfocused. (Where have you heard this one before?) It's going to be a bumpy first semester. Hopefully they mature as the season goes on.

I'm hoping to see two packed houses for two big titles against a National Power next weekend.

BU Hockey: Young and Fickle

Woo! Band dad!

The replay annoyed me too but the guys shouldn't have been in that position. I'd agree they're young and sometimes unfocused. The second game showed that. This said though, they're more together early season that some recent years that turned out just fine. So...if Pando gets his magic going on this bunch they should be be right proper scary after the new year.

We're #1! We're #1!

So, as per pretty much every season when BU is ranked #1 going into a big weekend, we're probably look at two losses, right?? {insert grimace here] And yes. I'm well aware it's OCTOBER and the polls are meaningless. But actually, they're not. This is a chance to see where this teams' head is at. Do they play the part? Or do they fall apart? What do you think we can reasonably expect this weekend? I do recall last year when we had a very good chance at a split with Michigan and blew it with a stupid penalty late in the third that lead to a game-tying goal and then a loss in overtime. While we've seen penalties this season that have been ill-advised, the penalties last season at this time were egregious and unnecessary.

It's meaningful to PWR (or whatever it is now). I agree with BUPhD that they look pretty together compared to the last couple of fall seasons; I'm encouraged, even if they should have won the second game against Colgate. I'm looking for a win and a draw against Michigan State to validate my feeling.

Two questions:

Any update/info on Boisvert?
Was the offsides blatant or barely something that the refs missed? I don't think they showed it on jumbotron.

Whoever scheduled a 6pm start clearly didn’t listen to you
Maybe they're reading these boards because Friday's game is now back to 7:00pm!! :) :) :)

And yes I know it's because the game is being televised nationally on ESPN 2 and not because they're reading these boards. As if there wasn't enough pressure being ranked #1 and playing #3. Now, national TV??? Oy.
