BU Hockey '24-'25: Reloaded for another Frozen Four run

After the BU game ended mookie threw the Cornell Ylae game to see the last home contest for fat Mike. Nice crowd. Cornell wins and saw how ylae ends the season with 6 wins, 5 of which were in conference 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

WTF

Low but acceptable standard for this team to reach this year where I won’t complain (unlikely). Trip to Garden in HE semis. One win in national tournament.

I think that’s a fair minimum, but I just have this feeling that we’re going to get a little more from this team. It has a decent potential to be one of those teams that surprises you. 20 wins in the regular season was the bare minimum one would expect. I would have liked to see 22-24. The Yale game and the Michigan games (where we had leads in the third period at home) were the ones to have back. Would have a 1 seed (3 overall) in a region right now with a 2 out of 3 those wins. Just the Yale game would put us at 5. In any event, winning the HE tournament will likely give us a 1 in Allentown. Anything other than that and we are a somewhere. I would rather stay out of BC or Maine’s regional. That has never worked out for us (although things can change of course). On to the playoffs! What a great time of year!

And…do you believe Quinn Hutson leads the NCAA in pts/game? Underrated player for sure. Probably should be first team All-American, but probably won’t. Cole Hutson should be absolutely.

This team is 100% about 'which team shows up'. Of late, the good BU has shown up more and finally is showing more 'crush it' when they win. Let's hope the 'bad BU' that comes out slow in the first period and folds like a deck of cards doesn't rear its head though.

Pretty good week for the Hutson family:
Quinn--Hockey East Player of the Week and D1 leader in points per game.
Cole--Hockey East co-Rookie of the Week and D1 co-leader in points for defensemen, leader in PPG for Ds
Lane--Top NHL Rookie scorer, leader in NHL.com poll for Calder Trophy

Is it just the three of them or should we be on the lookout for another Hutson? Seems like something in the genetics and family supports there....

there is one more- Lars Hutson. 16 year old defenseman, made his USHL debut with Muskegon earlier this season. only 2 games so far, most of his season has been with 16U AAA

There’s a fourth out there: Lars (2008) but apparently he’s not (yet, anyway) displayed the talent of his older brothers. They are pretty daunting footsteps to have to follow.

I think we’ll know if we have a chance lot not after the 1st period. If we’re ahead or close it’s entirely doable. If they’ve racked up goals, we’re toast.

Either outcome seems plausible

Yeah. I’m already anxious.
I think one of the better opponents we could draw for a quarterfinal. We match up well with this team (most of the time, at least). Everyone can be tough in a 1 and done situation. Goaltending is always the key in playoff games. The only player on the ice that can beat you single-handedly.
