BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

weighart

Rookie
After the first period, Maine leads BU, 2-1. For Maine, Jeff Dimmen scored on a five-on-three at 8:06. Just after that second penalty expired, Gustav Nyquist made it 2-0 at 9:33.

Alex Chiasson got one back at 14:06 for his team-leading fourth goal of the year on a power play.

According to Bernie and Bob on the radio, Scott Darling looks a little shaky in the net, so we'll see what happens.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

I'll use your thread, but my rant about the Maine athletic department stands.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

Still 2-1 Maine. Black Bears now going on power play at 3:59 of the second period. Slashing on Colby Cohen.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

Chiasson goal, great deflection.

Crowd and Darling don't like it, think he was in the crease.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

It looked like Terriers tied it 2-2 on an apparently great deflection by Chiasson. Sounds like he redirected an ankle-high shot by Gryba after Maine failed to clear the zone.

Play is under review, though... and it's waved off!! Apparently Chiasson was in the crease early.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

Maine almost scored after the waved-off goal... but now BU goes on the PP.

BU also hit the crossbar after DeKastrozza missed two open nets.

Maine penalty is cross-checking on Banwell.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

Terrier killers, both of them.

Abbott has 5 against the Terriers, Nyquist 4, both sophomores.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

Great back-to-back chances by Connolly and Escobedo for BU--Darling looks great on the saves.

He deflected the puck in with his stick! Why can't he be there! And Darling initiated contact.

Brutal call.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

Timeout Maine, BU has been buzzing, Maine's line had been out there FOREVER and had just iced it again.

I'm listening on the radio-were you watching? If Chiasson was in the crease first, then it's the correct call... though the lack of a whistle seems dubious.

Re: BU at Maine -- 11/08/09

Because he was in the crease before the puck got there and then touched the puck.

Darling initiated the contact. Chiasson has a right to the puck just as much as Darling does.

Refs didn't see anything in real time but reviewed because Maine whined.

Maybe the ghost of Walsh messed with the refs minds. ;)
