BU 23-24 Post-Season and Off-Season: Jacks and Coles

I had a beautiful, if insane, thought last night. What if Macklin doesn't want to go where he's drafted (San Jose, Columbus, etc.), pulls a Jimmy Vesey, and stays four years?

- I think coach sat Wilmer due to inefffective play, vs wanting to shuffle lines. He had a terrible turnover early and took a penalty.
- I am guessing Webber is hurting and so they are picking key spots to deploy him.
- I agree that defense is the team's weakness. Gallagher had at least one terrible play that reminded me of his early season woes. A. Celebrini, G. McCarthy, and even Wilander are good for one or two gaffes per game, which a good team like Minnesota will take advantage of more than RIT did. Even Case made a poor decision to rush the puck deep in the zone as the matching penalties were ending which led to their breakaway goal. This team has all the other ingredients necessary to win a title - balanced scoring attack, size that makes it hard to play against, strong play in net and good leadership. If the d can all play well, we have a shot.
- It's been good to see us playing more disciplined lately, especially Kaplan and Tuch. We need that too if we want any shot.
- Love seeing Stevens get such a big goal. His presence is huge for this team.

Huge game tonight. A win would cement our programs return to elite status in my mind. A loss would be disappointing but not the end of the world. I hope this team can pull it out to get back to the FF for all the guys that came back for this season.

Hah! We can all dream. No doubt he would get traded in that scenario, like Gauthier. Lots of articles recently about whether he comes back for a second year. I think it's 50/50, and likely will depend on who drafts him. He is SO young, younger than Eichel was - those 8 months make a difference.

Both Macklin and Lane could use another year at BU. Macklin is 'besties' with Cole Eiserman and has apparently said he wants to room with Cole. Lane has been overused and had been playing exhausted - he deserves a season where he can play normal minutes and really hone and polish his game. And Macklin is just plain young, and throwing him into a grown men's game won't help him. All in good time. Three (Hutson) brothers on one college team may never have been done before.

Why, whatever game are you talking about? I certainly don’t remember any game between BU and BC for a trip to the Frozen Four. Nosireeebob.

[sobs quietly for a few minutes]

*cough* *sniffle* *shudder*

OK, which team would be which in your scenario?

Wondering…should by chance BU win it all (which I do not see happening, yet certainly hoping), he’ll leave. But if they get close and don’t, even if they lose tonight, would there be that glimmer of hope he stays to get it all done alongside his BFF?

Fitting that we need to beat Minnesota to get to St Paul. The Gophers will be extra jacked for this one and will have plenty of fan support present.(Think North Dakota in Fargo, only probably down a notch) I agree minimizing turnovers and power play opportunities will give us the best chance to win. Caron looks great and can handle anything right now - he was probably the number 1 reason the RIT game remained manageable from the start. Look for him to be the key (as it usually is in playoff time). Justin Close has great numbers for Minnesota as well - I’m surprised Minnesota hasn’t won anything this year either. Looks like 5 ties kept their win total down in the regular season, otherwise they would be ranked higher They lost 2-1 in the Big Ten semifinal at home. This is a match of 2 excellent teams that haven’t won anything yet and looking for a shot at redemption by reaching the Frozen Four. Buckle up!

Isn’t Cole Hutson coming in 2025? That would require Lane & Quinn to stay 2 more years. But maybe I’ve got that wrong. I’m working off a tired memory.

If we didn’t get that response goal in the last 2 minutes, I think this could have gotten away real quick. I thought we played well - 2 lasers by Minnesota. Close saved them in that period. Caron with a couple of game savers as well. Oh well, keep trying I guess.
