I don’t know if I’ve been so concerned about playing Merrimack before. They can bite us, especially up there. We’re 2-2 in our last 4 up there. Hoping for a good turnaround tonight.!

Well this game is pretty much over. Not sure what is wrong with them.

They have trouble with physical teams. They are getting beat up all over the ice. If they can't play with speed and flow they're just another team. I hesitate to say this, but it looks like this team is going nowhere.

They certainly aren’t a top 5 or 10 team in the country. Gallagher got used on the 2nd goal. This isn’t a type of team you want to face when you are struggling. Bigger and stronger similar to Western teams. Not going to be a popular sentiment but BC has been the better team starting with the game Commesso stole

And it doesn't help that they can't STAY OUT OF THE FRIGGING penalty box. It messes up the line combinations and flow. I just get the feeling that they play on cruise control. I've brought this up before. You have to have a MIX of lunch pail guys along with the stars. Someone to keep their egos in check and show leadership. They're like a rudderless ship. And they get outworked every game.

You think how they finished last year after the Beanpot this year it started at the Beanpot. Will see if Pandolfo can do anything about it

Agree. I was in New Haven on business and decided to go to see the QU v Yale game and having just seen the beanpot games the last 2 weeks I am not thinking any of the HE teams belong in the top 10.

I think NU has best shot if they make it due to Levi and I see them as a more physical team

On the positive side the color guy on the broadcast which I assume is the MC announcer was excellent

Yes, he really was. Very down the middle. Not a homer.

I don’t blame Commesso for any of the goals but I think Vinny needs to be between the pipes tomorrow night. Gotta try something to change it up. Despite outshooting them 39-21 I can’t recall any big saves by the MC goalie.

BU had been a joy to watch even in defeat they were competing hard. I can’t tell if they still are. Way out of sync as somebody said.

So we go to the top of nation in scoring with about 4.2 goals/game, and follow that up with 3 losses where we score 1,2,and 1 consecutively. We also gave up the first goal in all three of those games. We really need a game where we go up first. We're 15-0 in those games and now 5-9 when not scoring first. We had some partial breakaways 1 on 1 with their goalie, and couldn't get one to squeeze by him. Need a win, and it's going to probably have to come with shutdown defense. Their first goal was a good shot, but the guy just walked in to a great shooting position with no one aware of him. Those things need to stop.

This is the most inconsistent HE year I can remember. At different times BU, NU, UConn, PC, BC, Lowell and Merrimack have all looked like legit NCAA tournament teams at the minimum and at other times they've each looked awful. Even UNH and Maine have played real well recently. The league tournament is going to be fun and crazy and will likely have an unlikely winner.

With NU off, watched most of that game tonight. Agreed with whoever brought up the comparison to after the Beanpot last year...they look indifferent and unengaged. Difference is, you have a real smart and good coach now.

Before the mini slump BU was looking like a sure thing for #1 seed in Manchester. Now it's down to a 2 seed but could end up in Bridgeport with QU and maybe Harvard. But when you lose hold of a 1 seed it just becomes a little more volatile in terms of where you end up playing.

Yeah, well, we don't HAVE a shutdown defense. Remember how everyone bragged about how well we "activate" the defenseman? How they get into the play and help to generate offense? It's gonna be tough to change DNA overnight. Merrimack got behind the defense all night long. They could have had six goals. This is a free-wheeling team and they really can't come from behind. They score when they have the lead because other teams have to take chances, and that just plays into their skillset. But when we HAVE to score and the other team can stay back and just clog up the game, we really haven't shown that ability.

The way they're playing right now they could be in the Mars regional and it wouldn't matter. I don't care about the seed...let's just win a game. Small steps.
