BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

This seems like a neutral site. I am glad the NCAA Division 1 Men's Ice Hockey committee is so competent.

Well, to be fair, it's that way because the North Dakota fans SHOW UP. We could have that EVERY YEAR in Worcester or Manchester. We could have had that in the Garden (three miles from campus) for the National Championship game in 2015 instead of being outnumbered. It's time to stop whining about "neutral" until some of our fans start showing up to games. Last Friday at Hockey East was almost disgraceful.

So I guess if this team hasn't figured out how to score goals by now it ain't happening. At some point (all of the discussion about age of players, etc that has been going on) don't we have to talk about the offensive "scheme?" As they say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. At some point, doesn't all this talent have to be able to score a few goals?

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

Well they're not going to get much of a better opportunity than Bellows had getting in one on goal, but I suppose you can't expect these guys to score on every breakaway they get.

No one cares about the forwards. Who's on defense? Only chance of winning is with Switzer and Diffley. ;)

Sean

You certainly know what your going to get with big game McAvoy...maybe the Bruins can teach him that goals are scored in front not in the corner..Is that the great defense you keep talking about..Don't know how many goals Switzer has cost us in the 5 games he's played D but I m sure its a lot less than lthe 7 McAvoy has cost us in the last 5....Did BU even have a scoring chance other than the dribbler to the turnover machine Bellows.

But like they said, it's "one and done." There is no sustained offense, "flurries" in the zone or continuous pressure. One shot and then out comes the puck. Tough to win a game that way. Time of possession is probably about 65/35 right now.

To be fair they possessed the puck on the powerplay pretty well. No shots on net but, you know, baby steps.

... what?

Several turnovers and a couple of key bad simple clears of the puck. Team is hideous to watch and you keep thinking they will put it together and they don't. The captain coming up small in probably his last game. How many straight giving up first goal?

What do you mean "what?" Were you there at the Garden? BU had TWO sections (one in the loge and one in the balcony). There weren't 4000 people in the stands by the end of the second game.

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

Does it seem like they're "free wheeling" a little more? I say let them loose.

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

whew!!! that bu goal was all charlie!!!!

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

They have looked like a different team since scoring that goal. It's amazing what they can do when they decide to turn it on.

Your reply to my comment was in no way relevant to what I had said.

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

these announcers are idiots!!!! can they stop complimenting charlie on his game already!!!!

:D

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

"Slowing down BU's potent offense??????" (7th in Hockey East in goals scored)

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

These North Dakota players seem to have trouble staying on their feet. Luckily the refs give BU a penalty every time they fall down.

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread III: Terriers falling (into the off season)

Since when does BU look like Maine?

Other than the goaltending anyway
