You might want to verify how many from that pats team had all pro type carears vs St. Louis. Lot of great players came off of that team

many cheaters who were only as good as their cheating coach took them, correct!!!
:D

Agreed on the need for veteran leadership in addition to young talent especially in games like last night where you carry play for the majority of the game, generate loads of chances, but the goalie stands on his head. Olsson not being in the lineup leaves a huge hole in this regard. That said, if you look at the box score and the flow of play from last night and not look at the final score, you'd think BU handily won the game. We generated far more top quality chances than them, nearly doubled them in shots and shot attempts, and carried the pressure for basically the entire game. Huska stood on his head and robbed us multiple times, we hit a few posts, and UConn cashed in on every bounce that went their way. Never mind the ridiculous trip of McAvoy that wasn't called on UConn which directly led to UConn's first goal. The power play needs work, lots of it. And we need the three injured forwards back.

Get that calm, mature, thoughtful analysis outta here. WE LOST TO UCONN!! Recruiting a bunch of talented kids is a disaster. The coaching staff sucks. Fire 'em all and go find some mediocre 23 year olds to fill the nets with their leadership.

Started 2008-09 with almost EXACTLY (6-4-1 to 7-4-0) the same record including getting our doors blown off by UMass and swept at home by Vermont AND YOU SAW HOW THAT ENDED :(

That class had seniors though. :(

All ours were asked to go play at QU or sent to Canada :(

No, A.J. Greer and Brandon Fortunato would be in our Junior class. Speaking of whicg, BU had 11 players (6 who are still at BU) in the incoming class of 2018: Chase Phelps, Nikolas Olsson, John MacLeod, Brien Diffley, J.D. Carrabino, Brandon Fortunato, A.J. Greer, J.J. Piccinich, Connor LaCouvee, Brandon Hickey and Jack Eichel. Of the 5 who are no longer with the team I don't think anyone expected Eichel to still be with the team and Fortunato left for off-ice reasons (if they are to be believed). Greer is in the NHL so I think it is unlikely he would be at BU, while Piccinich is doing well in the OHL and would likely have been an important part of this season's team. That leaves Carrabino, who I don't think would be playing if he was still with the team.

As for the class of 2017, BU had 9 incoming freshman (3 who are still at BU) that season: Dillon Lawrence, Nick Roberto, Kevin Duane, Rob Baillargeon, Tommy Kelley, Dalton MacAfee, Doyle Somerby, T.J. Ryan and Brendan Collier. Besides Roberto, Kelley and Somerby who else from the class would you like to see on this year's team? As I recall Roberto is the only Quinn recruit in the class, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't recall seeing anything about off ice issues for fortunato. Thought i read it was a candid conversation about ice time in regard to the guys BU had coming in this year. But please, spin away.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

That's the first I've heard of off-ice issues for Fortunato. I'd always thought it was a playing time thing, he'd at best be the 6th D on this year's squad and with MacLeod having a solid year, Fortunato likely wouldn't be cracking the lineup at all. Also, JD Carrabino wasn't a freshman when he got here, he was a transfer so he already had limited eligibility.

Welcome to the spin zone! I wonder if Sean is on the BU payroll as a team historian a la Gordon Edes of the red sox.

Baillargeon is better than anyone on current 3rd or 4th
Line. Led team in scoring as a freshman. Never
Seemed to get a chance with Quinn.

mookie assumes they had that conversation in an office and NOT on the ice :)

On our current 3 and 4 lines - yes. With a full roster, he'd be a 4th liner or borderline 3rd liner. 0% chance he'd crack the top 6. He did the grad transfer so he'd have the chance to get top line minutes and be able to play immediately. Robbie was a good player but his progression from his excellent freshman year to his junior year was not what was expected.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

He is injured. He is +5 and has 3 assists on the year. Not that bad for a sixth D-man.

Team looked hung over playing on Saturday night. Any reports of hard partying in the exciting city of Hartford after the Friday win? ;)

He is? First I've heard that too. We don't expect MacLeod to put up lots of scoring so this line is solid for him. Perhaps more importantly, he only has six penalties on the year and only one in his past six games. If it's true that he's injured that's not an insignificant loss, Diffley looked out of sorts on Saturday. MacLeod's had a really solid year so far.

I agree Baillargeon is a good player and likely better than anyone who has played on the 3rd or 4th lines this season (a combined 5-8-13), but he did not want to be a 3rd or 4th liner this season.
Led team in scoring as a freshman.
Yes, but on a very bad team. He had 27 points, the lowest total since Ryan Whitney lead with 25 in 2003-04. And his team leading 10 goals (tied with Danny O'Regan) was the lowest total since Dick McGinley scored just 5 goals in BU's 3 game 1945-46 season. He also lead in assists with 17 (tied with Ahti Oksansen), again the lowest total since Jim Todaro had just 12 assists in 1963-64.
Never seemed to get a chance with Quinn.
He played 35 of 35 games as a freshman, all on the 1st or 2nd line; 30 of 41 as a sophomore, 22 on the second line; and 36 of 39 as a junior, 31 on the third line. I think he got a chance with Coach Quinn, but he also moved down the depth chart each season and that is not what he wanted.
