BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

I wish that, for the students, BU could purchase a huge chunk from the NCAA and sell at cost to students (and Brown, as well).

I also wish the student athlete families were higher, because 50 seems low. Roughly 2 tickets per skater.

The cost is $230 :)

Highly unlikely as season ticket holders dropped by 746 and I doubt they lost another 311 that were replaced by premium seat holders. Also, my season ticket rank went up 6 places, so again, it seems very unlikely.

However the increase in athletic support is a sign that BU has been successful in increasing athletic denotations in general and to other sports. I recall reading after the last month long donor drive that there were many first time donors to a number of different sports, including men's hockey (I believe men's crew 'won' the 'competition' ahead of men's hockey).

I think many more people have requested tickets from BU this year than they did in '09.

Sean

What is your rank?

They would have to do that in October or November when a huge chunk would be available, now that'd be cocky. :)

It is higher than that, mookiemath was not meant to be exact and was at least partially in jest.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

At this point, my frustration (though I didn't even bother requesting) is who IS getting these 600 tickets? 30-year season ticket holders aren't, so who is? Are they going to actual BU hockey fans, or to university bigwigs who will show up in a suit and tie and maybe know the name of our goalie. That's the question BU/Agganis needs to answer right now to all of you who've been around for decades - who's ahead of you in line?

Well, we are learning 30-year season ticket holders don't mean much. By the point system posted earlier, if you donated $3,000 today, you would be at the same level as that 30-year season ticket holder. I have no problem with a $$$ donor being able to catch up to a long time season tix holder, but that formula seems way too aggressive to me.

You had to have donated before 3/1 to have your TLP set for ncaa tickets. (A donation today would be worthless--unless one handed it to brownie)

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

FWIW, this year is an extreme case. Assuming BU gets there, I don't foresee the demand for Tampa, Chicago or St. Paul being at the levels we're seeing this year nor in '09.

Season Tickets
Total Years of Men’s Ice Hockey Season Ticket Ownership 2 per year

Would ONLY ever happen in Boston for BU anyways.

I wonder if that is 2pts per ticket or 2pts per account? I have 2 season tickets (21 yrs) in my account. Is that 21pts or 42pts?

I'm just talking in general.

I guess this is a subjective use of terms, but look at how laughable these prices are (IMO): On "Primesport" the tickets are $400 APIECE for one session...higher on StubHub. To respond to Friend_Of_BU_Hockey above, yes, this year IS an "extreme case." Which is why I have essentially given up...thank goodness for ESPN!!!

just me, but i would never put my faith in getting FF tix via BC. i would just assume that those are already reserved for family members/big time donors, etc. has anyone been able to confirm how many tickets of the allotment go to family members? or was there just a guess?

some advice...i've only applied for FF tickets twice via the lottery. 2004 boston and this year. i got them both times. expensive, but worth the investment IMO. if by the time it rolls around you wanna sell, you might not get all your money back but it's not like the FF is in boston every other year. while BU being in it takes away some of my enjoyment i'm still looking forward to it ;) haven't taken wife to a bruins game this year, so this is it. hoping she enjoys it. she's actually looking forward to it. we went to the PC-Denver regional final sunday.

now, if one of you wants to make me an offer i can't refuse ;)

paid $330 total for 2 tickets to semis/championship via lottery

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Many smaller schools who made the FF recently were not able to sell their full allotment. Maybe that caused it to shrink in the past few years?
As I recall, back in the nineties each FF team received an allotment of 750 tickets, but as stated many times tickets were returned by the schools. I don't recall when the NCAA reduced the allotment, but I believe it was by the end of the 90s and I don't know if the ticket were released to the general public or used by the NCAA. As for not using the enter current 600 ticket allotment, Ferris State only sold 443 all-session packages for Tampa in 2012. Neither Yale nor Quinnipiac immediately sold out their allotments in 2013, although I would think that they did sell out.

True. And if the F4 were in Cleveland, I'm sure that BU wouldn't sell out. In your back yard, however...

Don't give up. Postpone. ESPN with a small $$$ windfall saved in hand is your back up plan. The ticket hype (((may))) recede. Keep an eye on the USCHO ticket thread, the Ticketbastard site, etc. If you are close to Boston and don't mind missing the 1st game and investing a little time you could even troll around Causeway street at noon on Thursday, head home if you can't score reasonably priced tix.

Tough problems to have says the 'cats fan. :)

As stated earlier, I don't foresee BU ticket demand being anywhere to this extent if they make it to Tampa, Chicago or St. Paul the next 3 years. But they must be more transparent and strongly consider revising the points structure to find a better balance between financial support and season ticket loyalty.
