BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Be VERY CAREFUL DRIVING TODAY. 1-3 inches of SNOW north and west of Boston because of the storm spinning off the coast which is pulling down cold air. Snow WILL begin to accumulate on the roads as the temperature drops (unfortunately just as everyone is driving to the game). I would advise getting their early.

So what you're saying is that it's still pond hockey season.

I was behind that net and that puck never crossed the goal line or even that close. Just was a mad scramble to find it

Agreed - clearly on replay it never went in. It just looked like it did from up in the balcony, it was a major tease...

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Where a Yale fan told one of our fans to go to hell. And where you just swore at one of our fans.

It's the IVY League...they're privileged...but seriously...

He criticized me as well and my first sentence was "Yes they do" in response to "Yale deserves SOME credit." And then he jumped on my comment that I didn't think it was an exciting style to watch. Well...TOUGH. It isn't. So he's obviously upset. Time to move on. The toughest tournament game to win is the first one. UMD is good and they're from a tough league. But to be fair, Minnesota (and this is from their own fans) played their worst game of the year and apparently it wasn't close. So it's hard to tell, but expect a fast game which is more to BU's liking. UMD will be more physical than most of the teams in the East, but that can burn you. I'd like to see us move the puck a bit faster....Yale was able to expose our young defensemen and that play that Fortunato made was the worst play I have ever seen by a defenseman (NO hyperbole...how do you skate DIRECTLY in front of your own net and then get the puck knocked off your stick? At least Shaeffer was trying to pass - for those of you who don't remember that reference, we're talking about the first goal at the Centrum in 2006 by BC when Boyle "picked off" a D to D pass ten feet in front of our net and deposited it into the back of the net). We take too many chances in our own end and one of these days it's going to end up in the back of our net again. Having said all that, I like BU tonight. GO TERRIERS!

Was surprised to see very few students at game yesterday.
Questions to which I do not have answers
Did BU provide buses to transport students to game? If not why not
If BU was unwilling to provide buses would that not be something the Friends of hockey could provide.
Hard to determine where friends funds actually go

Hope for larger turnout today- Both Providence and Manchester game overlap today
I remember a number of years ago going from Albany to Worcester and catching extra games in person

Not happening this year...weather is terrible...roads are getting slick already (not in Boston perhaps but temperature North and West is dropping quickly - 34 now).

BU is offering $5 bus rides to Manchester. Details.

FOBUH funds support the Hockey program. You're OK with Greeley flying to Omaha to get Forsbacka-Karlsson to verbal for next year? Money helps with recruiting, events, much more.

- Speaking of, what was Fortnuato thinking on that play where he almost gifted a goal? I need to watch that one on the DVR. If O'Connor doesn't save that, I think Quinn is suggesting to Fortunato, for his own safety and mental well being, consider transferring to another institution.
I really wish Quinn would keep Fortunato on the bench in pressure situations. Besides frightening give aways, he is easily hemmed in and has no ability to win a battle to make a clear.

YES- but know in past friends paid for dinner for BU students who went to North Dakota away game- Thought that was a good gesture. Think there is a lack of understanding in community on how funds are used.

We didn't pay for dinner for the students. We had a post game reception at the hotel for fans who made the trip. We did that in Vermont this year as well.

This was the first I have heard of this (also on BU tweet this morning.) I hope this was pushed via ads/social media to students before today. Would love to see a couple of sections filled with students.

Somerby as well I thought had an inexcusable giveaway that led to the second goal. Unfortunately they are who they are, and the forwards might have to stay back a little more and help carry the puck out of the zone. Smart coaching by Yale. I'm assuming the same coach they won the title with a couple of years ago.

I recall one famous BU hockey bus trip with the parents where a couple of BU fans who post out here brought several cases of beer for the trip and managed to kill them before they reached their destination, then bought more on the trip back where Mrs Silvia asked "is that too much beer for you guys?" It wasn't as those lushes killed that case on the trip home.

Frankly I think wealthy donors like Scarlet should just put an event for the travelling fans on their credit card so everyone can have a good time.

The Dog Pound's Twitter had it after the game yesterday I believe.

Yes...Keith Allain.

Speaking of him, someone brought up after the game that he didn't see Allain shake Quinn's hand. I didn't notice, did anyone? I know at the end of these types of games it's kind of chaotic on the ice so I would imagine it would be easy to miss.

As the TV commentators pointed out, Yale excells at trapping pucks along the boards, which is what happened on that play and several others. Ahti tried to come back for it but was a second too late.

Way back in 70-71, a student group convinced BU Athletics and the Friends to subsidize buses to Boston Arena and a handful of road games. Most memorable was a trip to RPI. Jack Kelley came aboard the bus before it left to return to Boston and thanked the students for out-cheering several thousand home fans and inspiring a win. And yes, we hit the local package store before leaving NY state.

I didn't actually see it (I was watching them setting up the interview light right below us in the runway to the BU locker room for O'Regan), but I know DQ was in the line.

EDIT: I guess that was kind of dumb to even post since I couldn't answer the question... :)
