Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Seriously. Lighten up. It's a game. Tomorrow, you'll wake up, and unless you bet entirely way too much money on Yale, everything will be just as it was last March 27. Yale's season will be over, and you'll have your summer to look forward to.

I never take it that seriously. Your (original) comment just rubbed me the wrong way. What's wrong with that? Isn't this a discussion board?

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

OK, so avoid where I say Yale played a great game -- in like, three places, no less -- and go look around at the BU posters who said that BU played terrible for about two periods. They also played terrible during roughly half of the Beanpot Championship game. They played better in their first-round game against Harvard, despite going into multiple overtimes.

Yale's best player was Lyon, who stymied BU on a few chances. He was great at pouncing on rebounds, and it should be noted that two of the goals he gave up were on pretty much the only rebounds he gave up. Yeah, Yale played the boards, but it should have been up to BU to adapt to it, which they really didn't. BU didn't play well simply because they didn't change their strategy. Lyon stood on his head — as did Matt O'Connor — and without either, this game is over far sooner.

That being said, lighten up.

Ylae controlled the game first two periods. No question. It was their game to win there.

Liked Yale's gameplan, which was to attack young defensemen in their own zone. Way too many turnovers by Fortunato, Somerby, etc etc. Thought BU adjusted towards the end so those guys weren't so exposed. Still, something to keep an eye on.

Really liked the poise though going into the 3rd and even after the Yale goal to tie the game.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Maybe Yale deserves a little credit

Yes they do. It was a bad match up for us. Notre Dame bottled us up the same way. I have to say it's not exciting to watch, but given your goaltending, it's a good strategy to get one and then try to play the "goal prevention" game. I was worried about this one and I really wish we would come out strong and play hard from the first minute instead of relying on 3rd period "heroics" seemingly almost every game. Yale played a great game and came within a whisker of moving on.

I just wanted to thank Darius (wherever he is) for the recommendation. We did indeed go to Piccola Italia and it was FABULOUS! Maybe the best veal I have had in years. Great wait staff too. And, by leaving the UMD-Minn game after two, we beat the crowd. :D

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

How good is UMD?

NCAA Division I Overall Record: 21-15-3 (.577)
Conference Record, NCHC: 12-11-3, 39 points
Home: 8-5-3 / Away: 11-8-0 / Neutral: 2-2-0

Before Minnesota they won 2 of their previous 9

I hate BU as much as the next guy, but come on. You need to chill.

Why are you so surprised that the BU fans in the BU thread are more interested in analyzing BU's performance than Yale's? Yes, Yale played well. For a while, at least. We all saw it. But talking about the performance of the team that has another game to play tomorrow is slightly higher on the priority list here, and for good reason.

Good point. It is the BU thread and their arm chair QB's can dissect the game as they see fit. In defense of the Yale fan, it's completely obnoxious for BU fans to describe the first round NCAA win as "a stinker". Go read Coach Quinn's comments, even he credits Yale's game. It's also obnoxious to write passive aggressive descriptions of Yale's game saying "it's not the game I like to watch, but it works for you."

Bottom line, it is your thread, but when you scribe posts that are disrespectful to the opponent, expect a response. And own up to it, don't back pedal, defend your claim that BU's poor play made this a close game and Yale was fortunate. Don't be chicken ****.

You guys are out of your mind. It is not obnoxious at all for a BU fan to say they didn't play their best game last night (they didn't) and that they prefer to watch a fast, skilled game than a defense orientated grind it out game. I don't see how that is obnoxious at all. When BU played a similar grinding style under Parker, there were many BU fans on here lamenting the dump-and-suck offense.

There has also been plenty of respect thrown at Yale. They were a worthy NCAA team that almost made the big upset. Their style of play neutralized BU's strength and BU did not play their best game. I guess I am just being obnoxious.

They beat Minnesota last night like a rented mule. Left after two, but at that point, only one team had come to play. UMD was looking for deflections all night, and I think at least two of their goals were tips. Saw Greeley and Albie in the stands...assuming they will discuss this with the boys.

BU better not think that the hard game is past them. UMD could easily beat BU if BU isn't on top of their game.

Honestly, I see Yale as a UNH-type of team, that clogged BU and forced the Terriers to adjust (which they nearly didn't do). I can see UMD being more like UML, where a team is more willing to take risks offensively, and BU can control the tempo, a bit more.

BU is a good track match team. Great speed, willing and eager to spring for a fast break, and digs for rebounds.

No doubt. After one day, the NCHC is backing up their conference being awared 6 bids with their 3 wins.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

- Props to Yale on playing a solid game plan to perfection for most of the game. I was disappointed in BU's inability to adjust until the third period. Definitely made our freshmen d-men look like freshmen.
- Speaking of, what was Fortnuato thinking on that play where he almost gifted a goal? I need to watch that one on the DVR. If O'Connor doesn't save that, I think Quinn is suggesting to Fortunato, for his own safety and mental well being, consider transferring to another institution. :D It was like Kevin Schaeffer against BC in 2006 all over again, but much worse.
- Eichel proved me right (about the whole one-on-one skill level) on that breakaway, but I was really wishing he hadn't.
- From where I was sitting, I thought the O'Regan post in the dying seconds was a goal. We were celebrating...
- The third line had a great shift just before the second line had a great shift resulting in Ahti's goal. Good to see us getting contributions beyond 10-9-17.
- Since we won, I'm really glad we didn't score on the OT power play....wouldn't have wanted to deal with the complaining. The Grzelcyk call was a clear trip. The Rodrigues interference or hook or whatever - I thought it was a penalty, but was surprised it was called.

The train keeps rolling.

I thought the same exact thing. Five-hole worked nicely against UML's Boyle, but he was going to have to be way more creative against Lyon. I was surprised, but also not surprised at the same time.

So just what do you want BU fans to say? In our own thread no less. Where a Yale fan told one of our fans to go to hell. And where you just swore at one of our fans. I haven't seen one BU fan post anything against Yale, in our own thread no less, that said anything remotely as negative as the garbage non BU fans have been posting in here this morning. BU fans have been way more critical of how poorly BU played last night, which made it a crappy game for us. Why is that such a terrible thing to say? In our own thread no less.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Be VERY CAREFUL DRIVING TODAY. 1-3 inches of SNOW north and west of Boston because of the storm spinning off the coast which is pulling down cold air. Snow WILL begin to accumulate on the roads as the temperature drops (unfortunately just as everyone is driving to the game). I would advise getting their early.
